Cardiff-based progressive metalcore unit CONTRASTS have released their long-awaited debut EP, False Idol, today via self-release. Alongside the release of False Idol comes a music video for the EP’s colossal lead single, “Ghost In My Head“, directed by Aaron Roberts. Lined with heavy riffs, huge hooks and pummeling breakdowns, CONTRASTS‘ grasp on modern, technical metalcore is precise, firm and self-evident. Lead single “Ghost In My Head” only serves to bolster this notion, with a deeply infectious chorus and some truly belligerent riffing to contend with. Beyond “Ghost In My Head“, False Idol‘s air-tight four track run is an absolute barnburner, with tracks such as “The Space Between” (featuring Aaron Roberts of fellow Welsh act DE’LOUR) masterfully balancing the serenity and the chaos that sits at the core of CONTRASTS‘ dynamic and engaging sound. |
