Today, Curious Volume, the power pop meets indie rock quartet from Staten Island, NY deliver their new album Nothing Is Good. The eleven tracks move through bold dynamics and quirky transitions with lyrics tackling the ups and downs of adulthood. Power pop legend Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (Jellyfish, Beck) features on the album performing keyboards and back-up vocals, and it was recorded with Jon Smith and Ben Roth (You, Me, And Everyone We Know, PunchlIne) at The Kaleidoscope. The tracks move through unique chord progressions, magnified vocals, and moments of horns and electronics that will make you do a double take while also creating an infectious and enjoyable listen.
The album release is a triumphant return for Curious Volume, after their first run from 2003-2015. Life may have changed greatly since then – marriages, careers, children, the world – but the heart and meticulous energy the band has put into their music has only grown.

“Our intention was that, from one song to the next, they would be orthogonal in tone, sound, and message. Just when you think you understand what we’re about, we add a wrinkle or a twist. Rinse/repeat for eleven songs.
Nothing Is Good is meant to be taken both positively and negatively: ‘everything sucks’ and ‘no news is good news.’ Both could be equally intense sensations, in opposite directions. There’s an emphasis on humor and perspective throughout the record, but also an overall appreciation for the things that puzzle us and don’t make obvious sense.”
