Jerry Leger
New Single “Calling A Bluff” out now
New Album Waves Of Desire, out October 24
Canadian singer-songwriter Jerry Leger has announced a brand-new studio album Waves Of Desire, out October 24 via DevilDuck Records. New single “Calling A Bluff” is available now.
The new album was created during a short break from touring Europe. Jerry Leger and his longtime band The Situation, stepped into Cologne’s historic Maarweg Studios to record his most dynamic record to date. Waves of Desire brims with warmth, melody, and emotional pull—drawing from the timeless spirit of artists like The Beatles, The Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, and The Zombies, whose music first inspired Leger as a kid.
Produced by Leger himself with contributions from Suzan Köcher (harmony vocals) and Julian Müller (co-production / guitar), the record weaves close harmonies, textured analogue synths, and a mix of grit and vulnerability into songs that feel both classic and fresh. Highlights include the delicate fragility of “It’s So Strange,” the Stones-flavored swagger of “Calling a Bluff,” the soaring title track, and the nostalgic “Willow Ave,” which reflects on walks with his father in Toronto’s East End. Closing with “Back In Love With Me Again,” the album captures the passion and purpose that has fuelled Leger’s two-decade career. Expanding on the atmosphere of his acclaimed 2023 release Donlands, Waves of Desire takes his songwriting into new, pop-laced territory while remaining rooted in authenticity and heart.
Born and raised in Toronto’s East End, Leger grew up steeped in the sounds of Hank Williams, courtesy of his grandfather, and later found inspiration in The Beatles, Dylan, Cohen, Neil Young, and Tom Waits. Over the past two decades, he’s built a remarkable body of work — fourteen studio albums, including years of collaboration with Cowboy Junkies’ Michael Timmins and the acclaimed 2023 release Donlands, produced by Grammy winner Mark Howard. His new partnership with Hamburg-based DevilDuck Records signals another chapter, one that will see Waves of Desire carried to audiences across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and the UK. Along the way, he’s shared the stage with the likes of Steve Earle, Dawes, The Sadies, and Ron Sexsmith, who calls him “the real deal.” With his evocative lyrics, soulful vocals, and unshakable dedication to craft, Jerry Leger continues to prove why his songs feel both timeless and urgently alive.
Leger has announced a run of international tour dates later this year:
