UK AND IRELAND HEADLINE TOUR STARTS IN NOVEMBER

Amy Macdonald is riding high, fresh from the news that her new record, ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’, debuted at #8 – a position that ensures that all six of her albums so far have reached the Top 10. Its launch was amplified by it being named as Radio 2’s Album of the Week. Meanwhile, she is also seeing phenomenal demand and multiple sold-out shows for her upcoming UK and European tours. That momentum shows no sign of slowing down as Amy today shares the fan favourite album track ‘I’m Done (Games That You Play)’ as her new single. Watch the lyric video HERE. Watch the official video HERE.

Propelled by high energy acoustic pop-rock melody and a passionate vocal that recasts a personal experience as a universal emotion, ‘I’m Done (Games That You Play)’ captures the essence of a songwriter whose broad appeal has already seen her amass over a billion streams and 12 million sales, as well as 12 Platinum certifications across the world. While ‘I’m Done (Games That You Play)’ confronts an awkward, uncomfortable emotion, it’s not in any shape a song of self pity – it’s about having the maturity, self-confidence and empowerment to accept that not all friendships are eternal.

Amy co-wrote the song with producer Nicolas Rebscher, who is one of her two main collaborators on ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’ along with the Grammy winning Jim Abbiss (AdeleArctic Monkeys).

Amy says, “‘I’m Done’ is ultimately a song about life and friendships and having to make hard decisions; sometimes you just have to walk away. It was written on the first day I met Nico – it was strange for me because I’d never written with anyone I didn’t actually know before. It can be quite hard to put your thoughts and feelings out there when you’ve only just met, thankfully Nico immediately put me at ease, he was so chilled and had such great musical ideas that the lyrics just came to me.”

While ‘Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?’ proves that Amy’s future is still gleaming bright, she is also reflecting on her past with a new expanded reissue to mark the 15th anniversary of her second album ‘A Curious Thing’. Set to be released on National Album Day on October 18th, the new limited edition format features the original album pressed on pink vinyl as well as a second disc, on transparent vinyl, featuring special orchestral versions recorded with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Orchestra. It is available to pre-order HERE.

This summer has seen Amy add to the staggering tally of 5 million people who have attended her shows with gigs across Europe, and she also attracted a huge crowd as she played a surprise secret set at TRNSMT, and played select intimate record store shows in support of the new album. More than half of her upcoming headline tour dates are sold-out long in advance, while two homecoming shows at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro will see her play to a combined audience of 28,000 fans. Limited tickets for some shows on the tour remain available HERE.
