Beginning life in the late ‘90s in North Carolina, under the name Pure Hate, then Mindkill, then Dissent, Lust Of Decay finally morphed into their ultimate incarnation in 2000. Since then they have built themselves a legend in the underground extreme metal scene, releasing three acclaimed albums – the most recent of which was 2006s Purity Through Dismemberment. The most recent…until now. The long wait is over and Lust Of Decay have finally returned with their first new album in nearly two decades – the outstanding Entombed In Sewage. It takes mere moments of ferocious opener ‘Parasitic Exsanguination’ for all those intervening years to be forgotten. Lust Of Decay attack from a multitude of angles, darting out of the dark with unexpected weaponry, each slash, stab and blow delivered with absolute malice and not a shred of pity. The musicianship, the absolute understanding of and passion for brutal death metal is palpable in every ravenous riff and overwhelming drum fill and the song writing is second to none. There are so many moments of dark, destructive magic scattered through this album that they become countless; when the full blast is unleashed in ‘Hallucinations Of The Decrepit’ in a breathtaking firestorm, the filthy, slithering riffs and massive, monstrous vocals in ‘Rusty Razor Rimjob’ – a song that hits like a cascade of offal, burying you in an onslaught of body parts. Despite the darkly comic lyrical approach this track remains intensely serious business. ‘Desiccate The Epithelium’ is built on fantastic atmosphere and a vast array of killer riffs delivered at a level of force that cannot be denied and the concluding title track is an enthralling immersion in a world of death and absolute horror. Entombed In Sewage is a level above the competition – and above anything Lust Of Decay have released before. Comatose Music will release Entombed In Sewage on December 12th, complete with a viciously vibrant mix and master from Tony Tipton (Between The Killings, Necrotic Disgorgement, Reap etc) that shines a spotlight on the stunning individual performances from each member of Lust Of Decay and some utterly desolate artwork from the amazing Daemorph Art (Aborted Fetus, Avulsed, Holycide etc). Do not close the book on 2025s top brutal death metal releases yet, because a serious contender has just entered the fray. Find out more about Lust Of Decay here
