| Originally conceived by two of the most respected names in the death metal underground – Dave Rotten (Avulsed, Holycide etc) and Rogga Johansson (Ribspreader, Paganizer etc) – back in 2004, as a way of keeping the dark spirit of the genre’s brutal, formative years alive, Putrevore has gone on to carve out its own bloody place in the pantheon of the gods of death. Four morbid, malevolent albums – Morphed From Deadbreath (2008), Macabre Kingdom (2012), Tentacles Of Horror (2015) and Miasmal Monstrosity (2021) established Putrevore as a fetid force to be reckoned with. Now in 2025 Rotten and Johansson, joined by drummer Thomas Ohlsson (Stass, War Magic etc), have returned with what is undoubtedly Putrevore’s heaviest, darkest, most extreme offering to date – album number five, Unending Rotting Cycle! Opening with the shocking assault of ‘No Mourning The Grace’, Unending Rotting Cycle immediately subsumes the listener into a subterranean world of shadows and fear. Rotten’s vocals are positively inhuman, deeper than the grave, as he leads us down into the realms of madness. Riff after riff, roar after bestial roar, tracks like ‘Mortal Ways Of The Flesh’ are pure death metal, the music of undead deities! No-one knows death metal better than Rogga Johansson and his guitar spins an all consuming vortex of decay through the album’s title track, on into the unspeakable horror of ‘Cult Of The Tentacle’, a cadaver of alien origin animated by the spirit of evil. Unending Rotting Cycle will nail you into a coffin of suffocating heaviness and claustrophobic terror – alone and screaming in the dark. Adorned in the haunting artwork of Lucretia Morti (Avulsed, Ribspreader etc) and mixed and mastered for maximum, pulverising impact by Avulsed guitarist, Alejandro Lobo, at his Acordica Studios, Unending Rotting Cycle is the absolute epitome of real death metal.
