Snooper share new single “Pom Pom”

Snooper unveil new single/video, “Pom Pom”

New album, Worldwide, out 3rd October via Third Man Records

Supporting The Hives on autumn world tour across Europe and North America

Snooper by Emily Moses

“Flagbearers for the antic, lo-fi “egg punk” sound, the Nashville band return with a Devo-channelling single, frontwoman Blair Tramel contorting herself with a series of gymnastic commands.” – The Guardian

“[‘Worldwide’ is] a song with frantic energy… Alongside the programmed beats and scuzzy guitars, it creates something akin to Devo for the 2x-speed generation.”  The FADER

“This is classic new wave punk but something totally from the future.” – NPR’s All Songs Considered, The Most Anticipated Fall Albums

“one of the most exciting new voices in punk.” – The Hard Times

Snooper present “Pom Pom,” the third single/video from their new album, Worldwide, out 3rd October on Third Man Records. Following last month’s “cathartic mosh anthem” (Stereogum) “Guard Dog”, “Pom Pom” giddily owns the “cheerleader vocals” that have been ascribed to the band both as a compliment and a dig.

Commenting on the track, vocalist Blair Tramel says: “‘Pom Pom’ is about being your own cheerleader, a topic that is explored throughout the whole record. It’s about having to sit on the sidelines sometimes, supporting others, taking hits, and bouncing back. After cheering for other people for long enough, you reach a point where you learn to cheer for yourself as well. While self confidence is important, you also have to be able to laugh at yourself. Honestly, if you can’t laugh at yourself, you might have some work to do — GO TEAM!!!!”

Over the past few years, Snooper – founded by guitarist Connor Cummins and Tramel – have rocketed from DIY scene stalwarts to widespread adoration in the international underground music scene. The project evolved well beyond anything Tramel and Cummins had originally imagined and faster than they could track, resulting in disorientation as much as exhilaration. Worldwide extends directly from the festering punk the band first made their name on, but documents Snooper becoming bolder, catchier, and more confident.

Snooper – rounded out by bassist Happy Haugen, drummer Brad Barteau, and guitarist Conner Sullivan – recorded Worldwide with John Congleton (St. Vincent, Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen, Explosions in the Sky). Though Snooper had never previously considered working with a producer, Congleton was a fan and the band reflects on the process as being integral to their growth as artists. “The whole idea behind this record was experimentation and change”, Cummins says.

Though no less furious or propulsive than Snooper’s more guitar-driven beginnings, Worldwide may surprise longtime fans. Given they began on a drum machine, Cummins’ initial compositions had a newfound focus on rhythm and repetition. Where their 2023 debut Super Snõõper was intended as a pure representation of Snooper’s feral live show, Worldwide blends intensity with Tramel’s earworm melodic sensibility. Showcasing their most adventurous and unshakeable music to date, Worldwide is a portrait of a band truly coming into their own.

Snooper is currently supporting The Hives on their North American tour. Following their hometown album release show in Nashville on 3rd October, they will continue supporting The Hives on their European tour. A full list of dates is below and tickets are on sale now.
