Wednesday, September 17th, 2025 – Venice Beach hardcore outfit XCOMM have unleashed their debut single “Reasons” today, available now with an accompanying music video. The track, produced by legendary sonic architect Ross Robinson, had its world exclusive premiere on SiriusXM Liquid Metal yesterday and marks the first taste of material from the quintet’s forthcoming debut album. XCOMM—short for Excommunicate—feature frontman Michael Gatto, guitarist Jay Vargas, bassist Adan Escoto, drummer Revel Ian, and DJ Hunter Grogan. Their sound hits with the visceral impact of vintage hardcore weaponized through a distinctly modern fury, capturing what Robinson calls “the sound of unfiltered youth.”

“We’re not interested in recreating what used to be,” says the band. “‘Reasons’ is hardcore punk for people who viscerally live and breathe it, not just people who remember it. The song captures that feeling when everything feels like it’s collapsing but you’re still moving forward anyway. It’s the weight of expectations crushing you while you’re trying to break supersonic.”

The track showcases XCOMM’s ability to channel raw aggression with visceral precision and is the perfect appetizer for their upcoming full-length album that is due to hit early next year (more on that coming soon). Working with the producer behind era-defining records from Glassjaw, Slipknot, and Korn, the band captured performances that pulse with authentic menace. Robinson explains

“XCOMM is the wild zone. It’s bad-ass Venice Beach kids ripping with absolute fury. I felt so alive recording this one—kids screaming, flying around the studio, laying down raw performances making their world come alive.”

The band recently signed to underground champions Blowed Out Records, the incubator-like brainchild of Ross Robinson,

Ghostemane, and Bill Armstrong. They’ll showcase their explosive live presence this weekend at Louder Than Life, where LEO Weekly dubbed them one of the “10 Under The Radar Bands You Need To See,” noting: “XCOMM does not fuck around! This is straight up hardcore skate punk in the vein of early Suicidal Tendencies, Minor Threat, and Black Flag.”

With their debut album arriving early next year, XCOMM position themselves as torchbearers for hardcore’s next evolution—one that respects the past while obliterating any notion that new bands can’t slay the old way whilst simultaneously breaking new creative ground.
