Fresh off their move to Sydney, New Zealand indie pop favourites Daily J release their euphoric new single “Rosie’s Friend” today. The track is the first taste of their forthcoming Scatterbrains Deluxe album set for release on 5^th December.

“Rosie’s Friend” is an indie anthem that celebrates the highs, lows, and ultimate triumph of human connection. A faster cut by the band’s standards, this one leans into groove-heavy rhythms and speedy guitar. Offering blissful blends of dreamy, swirling melodies, warm basslines, and a hazy pop electronica influence that leaves you feeling swooned. Rosie’s Friend is the perfect soundtrack to your golden hour.

Lead singer Jayden shares “I started writing this song not long after meeting Rosie’s friend. Through the writing process, I realised how I was really feeling – what I was missing. I was captivated by her charm, her radioactive warmth. We took our time recording this one. It could’ve gone in a bunch of directions, but we landed on an indie banger – a fair reflection of her and the energy she brings into the world.”

Their second studio album Scatterbrains, originally released in February this year marked a new direction for the band while still carrying those classic Daily J summer undertones. Scatterbrains explores the darker side of their moon, diving into a mix of moods and emotions. The title Scatterbrains, as the band expand, “reflects that contrast, with songs that range from happy to sad, inquisitive to outright mad. It’s a rollercoaster of feeling, and we hope it resonates with our listeners in a real and relatable way.” A deluxe version of the album is set for release on December 5^th, featuring new single Rosie’s Friend and two more unreleased tracks.

Embracing their new home base, Daily J are headlining Beach Hotel in Bondi on October 3rd. Leaning into their new coastal lifestyle and connecting with their growing local fanbase.
