Tampa, FL — Pop-rock band, Pretty Pity is sharing their brand new EP, Done Waiting, which features fierce focus track, “Hate On Me.”

In addition to the release of Done Waiting comes a fall tour announcement set to kick off early October and continues throughout late November.

“Hate On Me” highlights a layer of vulnerability throughout the lyrics. Pretty Pity dresses the track up in glossy-rock hooks draped in honest raw emotions. This single hones in on the perfect contrast between an electrifying melody met with angst.

“Hate On Me is about being rejected by the industry, and how that type of rejection
mirrors a common recurring theme of those who struggle with self loathing. When you
push everyone away out of fear of rejection because deep down you don’t believe you’re good enough, or worthy, you can’t get any more hurt than you already are. Any sort of rejection feels like a confirmation that these negative assumptions about yourself are true and sometimes that feeling is explosive and debilitating. You spend so much time begging for an admission of hatred that you believe lies under the surface of everyone you interact with. It always feels like there’s a timer on how long someone will actually like you for before they realize you’re broken and leave. The lyric “I know everybody’s fake until they hate on me” reveals those isolating assumptions, and the loneliness that comes with it. “The Done Waiting EP tells stories of learning to choose yourself in different
relationships. Whether it be romantic, platonic, or business related, all of these stories
have similar themes of questioning self worth and navigating difficult life decisions. The
EP title comes from a lyric in the song “Hate On Me” where we state that we are done
waiting to be taken seriously by label execs and ready to take matters into our own
hands. It felt fitting as this release and the upcoming tours following a massive rebrand
felt like a step forward that we chose for ourselves. Punchline is the empowering “choose yourself over your toxic ex.” “Vertigo” says “choose to believe in yourself, because you’ve worked so hard for this.” “Dumb Game” says to choose communication over assumptions in the beginning stages of a relationship. And Whiskey tells the story of what the end of a relationship looks like when you haven’t chosen yourself for years. With each band member regularly listening to different genres and styles of music, it is hard to pin point exactly what makes a Pretty Pity song, just that.
