Music Video Pays Homage To BSB Original

London Show w/ Foxhaunt on 21st September

How do you go from rising stars of the UK emo/alt-rock scene to a US multi-million selling boyband overnight. Well, maybe you don’t, but Bristol natives downcast have done the next best thing. They’ve temporarily packed away the flannel shirts and Vans and embraced all things light and fluffy with their brand new single – an emo rock take on Backstreet Boys smash hit Just Want You To Know.

A band who do everything with maximum effort and enthusiasm, downcast have paid full homage to Backstreet Boys with the music video for their version of Just Want You To Know. Nods to the original video are interspersed with other BSB moments including those iconic white outfits.

Check out the video and enjoy the cover below:

downcast’s back, ALRIGHT!
Just Want You To Know is also available to stream now. on Spotify and Apple Music.

We hand over to downcast guitarist Ben Lucas to explain the band’s transformation for their new cover:

Turns out Backstreet Boys were one of the greatest pop punk bands of the early 2000s and we only just found out. This is our version of the greatest Backstreet Boys song.

As much fun as it was to record the song and add enough vocal ad-libs to make the boys proud, the best part was the music video. A whole evening in white outfits, dancing around the studio, really helped us get into the boyband mindset.”

downcast will be hitting the stage supporting All Ears Avow in Nottingham at Tap N Tumbler on September 20th, and Foxhaunt at The Grace in London on September 21st. If you ask them nicely, they just might include this cover in their set…..

Just Want You To Know is the first new music from downcast since the release of their 2024 EP, WTF HAPPENED, the details of which you can find below:
