Brighton’s really big really clever have released a further preview of their forthcoming, self-deprecatingly-titled album ‘…huh’. “‘the middle’ explores the emotional strain and evolving expectations that can often come from personal connections,” say the band. “It reflects on the painful realisation that, despite your best efforts, you may never be able to become the person you think you want to be. The song captures the internal conflict of losing yourself in the process and ultimately speaks to the journey of reclaiming your identity – learning to recognise, avoid, and move on from situations that demand you to be someone you’re not.”
‘the middle’ further exemplifies the band’s supreme take on alt-rock – gritty, real, riffy and off-kilter, yet with undeniable melodies that shine through. It follows on from the release of ‘back door’, an electrifying track which was released alongside the announcement of the new album and channels the chaos and confusion of a night gone wrong.
‘…huh’ is the follow-up to really big really clever’s 2023 self-titled debut and is set for release 22nd August via Sugar-Free Records. The album was recorded & produced in Whitstable during spring 2024 with long-time collaborator and friend Ian Sadler.
really big really clever have also announced that they’ll be taking ‘…huh’ on the road in August / September, after it’s unleashed upon the world, to bring its tracks live and in person to audiences across the UK. See below for dates, tickets on sale now.
