23rd May 2025 – Jawbone today release their second studio album, Jawbone II, out now via 5dB Records (anaiis, Ashaine White, MOULD). Listen here. Purchase here.

Arriving seven years after the band’s debut, Jawbone II sees the return of the symbiotic performances and thrilling energy that Jawbone first became beloved for. Throughout the album the band moves seamlessly between folk, rock, psychedelica and more, highlighting the impressive experience and exquisite talent of each member.

Speaking on the album Jawbone expressed, “Someone asked us why we wanted to make Jawbone II. ‘Why?’ was never in question for us as we always knew we wanted to write, create and record together again. We love chasing the feeling that we get when we are all in a room playing and singing together. So that’s what we did, 5dB captured it all on record and we are proud of it. Now, with several years together, the sound of the band has distilled with 3 part vocal harmonies weaving a thread through sound worlds drawing on 70’s rock n roll, psychedelia and rhythm & blues.”

They continued, “Jawbone II captures the sound of the band playing live in a room, doing what they love to do.  The songs are written and played honestly, touching on themes like loneliness, mortality and hope but all done with a smile and an optimistic wink.”

In writing the songs, Marcus Bonfanti (guitar/vocals), Paddy Milner (keys/vocals), Rex Horan (bass/vocals), and Evan Jenkins (drums), each provided their own insight into the world around them. With much of the record finding its initial inception during the pandemic, this project was sparked by a desire to make music that feels good, both for the audience listening, and the band playing. This desire was actualised across live performances as tour support for Imelda May earlier this year, and will continue to be done so with a Jawbone headline show at The Water Rats on 2nd July. Tickets are available here.

To record all tracks from the upcoming album, the band initially gathered around the piano in Paddy Milner’s north London house. From there, the songs they created were taken to 5dB Studios, as the decision was made to play the album as if it were in a live setting. The energy this provides across the record is electric, evident in previously released standout singles such as, ‘The Tide’ and ‘Horizons Of Hope’. A further stand-out element is the band’s three-vocalist set-up, which provides unique and room-filling harmonies, merging exquisitely with the talent provided by each as masters of their respective instruments.

Jawbone – Marcus Bonfanti (guitar/vocals), with Paddy Milner (keys/vocals), Rex Horan (bass/vocals), and Evan Jenkins (drums) – have individually spent the last 25 years playing with a host of legendary musicians, including Tom Jones, Jack Bruce, Chuck Berry, Garth Hudson, Van Morrison, Johnnie Johnson, Imelda May and Shuggie Otis. The band formed from diametrically opposite corners of the world in 2014, having worked together previously in London, and released their debut album Jawbone in 2018, which they followed with a series of shows around the UK and Europe. Their music tells the story of each and every member but is also greater than the sum of its parts.
