Today, innovative metalcore act fallfiftyfeet announce their sophomore album Counterfeit Recollections slated for release on May 2nd. Across the twelve tracks on the album, the trio are unequivocally heavy and relentlessly authentic. Recorded with Andy Nelson at Bricktop Recordings and mastered by Kris Crummett, the songs impact with twisted riffs, intriguing samples, and a sense of urgency. As exemplified on preview singles “Running from the Sky” and “Purgatory Blues,” fallfiftyfeet have mastered the balance of hardened metalcore and melodic alternative into a unique and satisfying audible.
Title track “Counterfeit Recollections,” out now, begins with an alluring guitar line and bright, clean vocals from James Becca. The song quickly dips into frenzied mayhem as Dave Wallace’s crushing vocal delivery surfaces around a weighty breakdown. The lyrics notion toward heaven and hell, good and evil that personify in the juxtaposition of the song’s structure. The haunting afterlife comes through in the “Counterfeit Recollections” music video, directed and edited by Eric DiCarlo. You can watch the video HERE and stream the track HERE.
On writing the song, Becca shares:
“I wrote my parts to this song in the parking lot at work on smoke break. Thinking about how all I could do was just stare out into the clouds, trying to find a second of peace from everything that surrounded me on the ground. Not only a stressful job that eats at your soul, but the concrete and the smog and all the ugly that you can’t look away from. At least if you look up you can look away from the earth that we’ve taken for granted so badly.”
Counterfeit Recollections is available for preorder on vinyl through Silverback Gorilla Records and on CD and cassette tape through Wormwood Records.
The band will head out on a ten date Spring tour kicking off March 28th in Indianapolis, IN. Full routing below.
Forming a friendship over Tumblr as teens in the 2010s, Dave Wallace (vocals) and James Becca (vocals, guitars) eventually met in real life and would go on to form fallfiftyfeet in 2020, debuting with their album Twisted World Perspective in 2021. In 2022 the band released the three song EP, Lonely If You Go, garnering praise from BrooklynVegan, Distorted Sound, and Mathcore Index, and later followed up by a 2024 split with Wounded Touch. fallyfiftyfeet’s do-it-yourself ethic has found them playing shows across lesser known cities in the US, while also sharing stages with the likes of Underoath and Seeyouspacecowboy. With the release of Counterfeit Recollections, 2025 is primed to be fallfiftyfeet’s biggest year yet.
