Armed with an ever-increasing catalogue of killer tunes, rock star visuals and a new deal with Run On Records (The Royston Club). ROLLA are set to break. They know it – performing as if their lives depend upon it. Fans know it – especially those who were present when they raised the roof at the recent Neighbourhood Festival. And an array of tastemakers know it too – with their current single ‘We Owe You Nothing’ landing fresh praise, their first major playlists at Apple Music, a radio appearance on BBC Manchester, and support from John Kennedy at Radio X and Jim Salveson at XS Manchester.
Now ROLLA take another step towards that moment as they unveil the new video for ‘We Owe You Nothing’, which was directed by filmmaker extraordinaire, friend and fan Charlie Lightening (Paul McCartney, Liam Gallagher, Kasabian). They launch the video along with the news that they will play a special show at the iconic Salford Lads’ Club on November 15th – the location behind the famous photo of The Smiths that was used in ‘The Queen Is Dead’.
Charlie Lightening’s video is indicative of ROLLA’s vast ambition. It’s a visual that captures them in their best environment – on-stage bringing the noise, anthems and a plethora of charisma to an audience whose electrifying reaction affirms that they know they’re in the presence of a band destined for bigger things. It proves, as RGM’s recent review alluded to, that ROLLA can take their swagger to stadiums.
ROLLA commented, “We’re excited to drop the video for ‘We Owe You Nothing’ which was directed by Charlie Lightening. Charlie’s worked with two of our heroes Liam Gallagher and Kasabian so having his vision on this track means a lot to us. He captures the raw energy and attitude, it fits what we’re all about and this song is all about. It’s an absolute masterpiece, massive shout out to Charlie!”
This year has seen ROLLA detonate at festivals across the land, with highlights including Isle of WightStag & Dagger and Rewired as well as gigs with The CrooksThe Rifles and The Bracknall. Yet their 2024 touring schedule hasn’t included a homecoming headline show… until now. ROLLA go back to their roots with a special show at Salford Lads’ Club on November 15th, tickets for which go on sale HERE from 10am this Friday, October 18th. Their previous Manchester headline show was at a sold-out Gorilla eighteen months ago.
The band added, “We’re buzzing to be playing an intimate show at Salford Lads’ Club. It’s not just the history or the iconic moments that have happened there, it’s the sense of belonging. The club has been a hub for Manchester’s youth and culture for over a century and its connection to music and community is what makes it so special. Being a part of that means it’s more than just a gig for us, it’s a reminder of why we do this and where we come from. It’s going to be a night to remember and we can’t wait to share it with our fans.”
In addition, ROLLA will play two shows as guests to The Lilacs at Stockton KU (October 25th) and The Soundhouse in Leicester (October 26th, sold-out).
Consisting of James Gilmore (vocals), Luke McConnell (guitar) Tom Paddon (guitar), Luke Gilmore (bass) and Saul Bardsley (drums), ROLLA debuted in 2020 and affirmed their credentials as next wave stars when their 2023 debut EP ‘Nothing Less Than Everything’ shot straight to #1 on the iTunes Album and Alternative Charts. They’ve already shown their arena-readiness after touring with Kasabian following a personal invitation from Serge Pizzorno.
