THE NEW BAND FROM SIMON NEIL AND MIKE VENNART SHARE A FIERY NEW VIDEO FOR ‘HARVEST’ – WATCH IT HERE UPCOMING FESTIVALS INCLUDE UK SHOWS AT DOWNLOAD, 2000TREES AND ARCTANGENT |
Having recently obliterated three venues during their almost instantly sold-out introductory headline tour, Empire State Bastard today share a new video for their debut track ‘Harvest’. It arrives as the band – founded by Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil and their touring guitarist Mike Vennart – prepare for a summer festival tour which includes UK dates at Download, 2000trees and ArcTanGent. The ‘Harvest’ video features electrifying live footage from all three shows on the tour. It sees the duo holding nothing back as they conjure a particularly frenetic intensity, supported by heavyweight bass courtesy of Naomi Macleod and the manic precision of the legendary drummer Dave Lombardo. The rapidfire editing only amplifies the band’s visceral and unpredictable onslaught. The video was directed by Nick Suchak. When asked to describe the video, Empire State Bastard replied, “Bastards in the wild!” After a gestation period of a decade or more, Empire State Bastard started to take shape with Mike Vennart (guitars and songwriting) and Simon Neil (vocals and lyrics) drawing on influences from across the extreme sonic spectrum including Siege, Melvins, Mike Patton and – of course – Slayer. They struggled to identify a drummer who could play with the full-throttle accuracy and groove of their shared drumming hero Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Fantomas, Suicidal Tendencies), so decided to invite the man himself. The line-up was then completed by Naomi Macleod of Bitch Falcon. In addition to their UK festival dates, Empire State Bastard are also confirmed to hit Hellfest, Malakoff Rockfestival and Wacken Open Air. Their upcoming live shows are: JUNE 9th – UK, Download Festival 18th – France, Hellfest JULY 7th – UK, 2000trees Festival 17th – UK, ArcTanGent 21st – Norway, Malakoff Rockfestival AUGUST 2nd-5th – Germany, Wacken Open Air |
