“Poised and precise in her singing and ace guitar playing…Madison Cunningham might not
conjure a comparison to Fiona Apple on first listen, but…with [her] wonderfully tangled imagery
and cutting self-awareness, shows she’s an heir to that queen’s powerful throne” – npr music

“expert chugs of electric guitar…for fans of Aimee Mann, Joni Mitchell and Jeff Buckley” – Rolling Stone

Two-time Grammy®-nominated artist Madison Cunningham is unveiling her new song ‘Anywhere;’ watch/share the official music video HERE. The new track comes fresh off the heels of a successful 2021, which found her opening for Harry Styles at his sold-out Madison Square Garden shows and performing on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

“‘Anywhere’ is a song about the inner dialogue you have with a person when they’re not there, saying all the things you would say if you could,” Cunningham explains. “And the combusting madness that comes with letting people’s opinion of you hold too much weight.” Stream/purchase the song HERE.

Cunningham visits the UK next month, playing The Great Escape Festival, as well as a 7 date tour that includes a night at London’s Omera. Her European tour comes wrapped around dates in the US with My Morning Jacket, Mt. Joy and Lake Street Dive in the US, as well as select solo dates.

The Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and guitarist’s latest project Wednesday (Extended Edition), which featured covers of Radiohead, John Mayer, Tom Waits and The Beatles, earned Cunningham her second Grammy® nomination and first in the “Best Folk Album” category. Previously her debut album, Who Are You Now, was nominated for “Best Americana Album” in 2020.

Cunningham first picked up a guitar at age seven, and by age twelve was singing and performing alongside her five siblings in church. By the age of fifteen, Cunningham realized songwriting was a passion she wanted to pursue, citing Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan as key inspirations. “It’d always been a hobby before, but around then, I realized I wanted to make it a religious practice,” she says. “I thought if I could capture some of their same spirit ever in my life, I’d have to work hard and every day.” Her list of champions continues to grow, including Harry Styles, John Mayer, Andrew Bird, Sara Watkins, Nickel Creek, the Milk Carton Kids’ Joey Ryan and Sarah Bareilles.
