Tunnel Visions release stellar debut EP ‘Clear Skies’

“It is alternative, it is dynamic, it is weird as all heck, and I LOVE it” – Sarah Gozzo, BBC Introducing In The South West

“One of the best bands I’ve seen in Brighton – Like listening to a vinyl, but live” – Rachel Williamson (Ban The Disco Promotions)

“If anyone’s got a semi-wild Stallion and some kind of No Country For Old Men-esque weapon, I feel like I need to go on a rampage after that. TUNNEL VISIONS – a 7-piece experimental psych-rock band. All of them coming out of Plymouth, they’ve got 2 drummers on that, that’s where the energy comes from, SO HYPED, also did you catch the David Byrne-esque “WOOs”?! – Love that” – Sarah Gozzo – BBC Introducing South West

Seven piece psychedelia-cum-rock band, Tunnel Visions, have been making waves on the southwest music scene ever since the release of their debut single ‘Lazy Eyes’.

Starting out as three-piece band Pedestrian, the group slowly accumulated more and more members before becoming the septet rock outfit we see today. Originating from Plymouth and the surrounding towns, Tunnel Visions have been steadily making a name for themselves with their spaghetti-western and adrenaline-fuelled cuts.

Tunnel Visions are: Andrew Girdler (Guitar, Vocals), Elliot Stanford (Guitar, Vocals), Cameron Black (Drums), Tim Girdler (Bass/Guitar), Rory Lethbridge (Bass/Guitar), Rachel Bailey (Keys/Percussion) and Laur Underwood (Drums).

Acting as part one of a conceptual double album (with part two ‘Foggy Moon’ being released next year), ‘Clear Skies’ takes a deep dive into an amalgamation of emotions through lush sonic soundscapes and delicate introspections into the human psyche.

“Clear Skies is the first half of our conceptual double LP, which is a huge celebration of all of our musical influences, created out of our love for concept albums and storytelling in music. We’ve been working towards it throughout our whole time as a band and it’s been many years in the making, so we’re itching to get it out there and perform it live.” – Andrew Girdler

Recorded, mixed and produced entirely from Andrew’s bedroom, the five-track EP is the epitome of DIY and the intimacy of the project translates wonderfully into the heart of ‘Clear Skies’.

The EP moves through waves of relief (‘Overground’), to dealing with guilt (‘The Son’) and seasonal affective disorder (‘The Sun (Through Summer)’) through metaphors of nightmares and waking hours. The mainly instrumental track, ‘The Sun (Through Summer)’ offers a deep breather after the half-way mark of the record, providing a cathartic break from drilling percussions and full-throttle instrumentation

Teeming with an amalgamation of sultry vocals, shoegaze-esque guitar numbers, and high-octane veined beats, ‘Clear Skies’ is set to cement their position on the indie music scene.

Having previously placed on Spotify’s Release Radar, and having airplays on Amazing RadioSlack City Radio and BBC Introducing Southwest, 2022 is due to be an exciting year for the Plymouth-septet.
