Three seasoned musicians from Texas, each with their own unique influences and long record of touring, came together to form TEMPTRESS. Kelsey Wilson (Guitar, Vocals), Andi Cuba (Drums, Vocals), and Christian Wright (Bass, Vocals) decided to get together in January 2019, for a casual afternoon jam session to simply keep their skills sharp. They didn’t plan to be a band, it just worked. In five months, they went from jamming for fun in a practice space to writing and recording some potent heavy songs. They immediately began performing them live as TEMPTRESS with the likes of Heavy Temple, Wo Fat, Ecstatic Vision, Black Tusk, and Royal Thunder. In early June 2019, they debuted three original songs in an EP, ‘Temptress‘. Temptress finished writing their first full-length album in 2020, then hit the Crystal Clear Sound studio with Kent Stump (Wo Fat) to helm the recording, mix, and mastering – all finalized in 2021. The new record SEE, features cover art from Caitlin Mattison and released through Metal Assault Records in March 2023. Touring hasn’t stopped since.
“The power trio used everything I love in heavy music and created a unique album. Temptress have captured my attention from start to finish with See and it’s an album I’ll want to revisit often. I only hope more than six songs were written so a follow up is not far away.” ~ The Sleeping Shaman“With powerful vocals, intricate guitar work and a tight rhythm section, Temptress has created an album that is sure to leave a lasting impression.” ~ Sierra Light, mxdwn “…the band became increasingly aware of their separate influences and began working to bring the sounds together into something that is just a little bit harder to define than simply ‘metal’.” ~ Dallas Observer “With dueling male/female vocals, killer riffs, and an element of looming danger, See is going to be one of the most remembered debuts of 2023.” ~ Rich Piva, Doom Charts “…Temptress takes you into the deep, dark tunnels and unveils this crystal ball, showing you these hidden secrets that’ll make your eyes wide-open. And we got to witness its true colours from start to finish.” ~ Echoes and Dust “Temptress do a good job of confounding my expectations, sort of coming on like a cross between a ridiculously high stoner act and a really great bar band, moving methodically through their mostly linear structures with assurance.” ~ Metal-Archives “Temptress still manage to (just about) set themselves apart by being unafraid to drop in a couple of wandering and atmospheric passages, or by showcasing a brilliant dual vocal set up.” ~ Real Gone |
