Zebrahead are back once more with another brand new album this year. Brain Invadersis the 11th studio album from the band and proves the band still have a lot of energy left in them. Being produced by both the band and Paul Miner (New Found Glory, Atreyu, Thrice, Death by Stereo) and mixed by Kyle Black (Pierce the Veil, Paramore, New Found Glory), any expectations of this album are certain to be met.

Right from the get go, from this album there is a clear mix of the heaviness that’s provided by the rhythm section, but also that high energy punk sound. With some tracks being defined as one or the other there is also a lot which are well blended with the two styles. While the opening track “When Both Sides Suck, We’re All Winners” definitely showcasing that heavier side, “You Don’t Know Anything About Me” certainly falls more into the higher energy punk category. Ali Tabatabee’s vocals keep that distinctive sound that have fans have come to instantly recognise with his blend of singing and rapping throughout the album. It’s his vocal style that can pull the tracks which sound like they belong on a metal album to suddenly fitting the more punk style they have become known for.

It’s easy to say that once again Zebrahead have created another killer album. The deeper you go into it, the more you want to hear from these guys. They keep you guessing as to just what style their next track is going to be, whether it’s to get you up and jumping around the room or to get your head nodding back and forth to some amazing guitars and beats. Having released so many albums, it’s easy to see the band are not afraid to mix things up and have a lot of fun with it too.
