Montreal-based band, Yester Daze has taken the world by storm with their EP Yours To Follow, out now!In celebration of last Friday’s release, the band will be premiering the visual video for “Otherside” today at 6:00 pm PST / 9:00 pm EST via their YouTube channel. The band will also be chatting with fans after the premiere. Watch the video HERE and listen to the EP HERE!
Heavily influenced by alt-rock titans Muse with remnants of the Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance and Green Day, “Otherside” is driven by electrifying bass lines and catchy melodies. The track along with the visual draws listeners into the band’s world. “It follows a lost spaceman trying to find his way home”, says Brandon McShad (vocals). “It relates to the existentialism of the lyrics. It’s like we’re living in a surreal time and not sure what or who we are anymore. The song always had a spacey atmospheric sound to it, so luckily our friend and video producer, Teague Riordon, was able to help us take the viewer on a journey with this spectacular video.”
The track comes off of the band’s EP, released one week ago today. “We are ecstatic to finally have released the EP, as this is something that’s been in the works for a couple of years. It never felt quite right to put it out until now. For a debut EP, we really didn’t want to overwhelm our listeners and we didn’t want to rush songwriting to extend the runtime. So, we stuck with the 4 best songs that didn’t sound alike whatsoever but still had a cohesiveness to them. We didn’t have a concept in mind, we just wanted to show who we are and where we come from musically. Each song tells its own story and has its own vibe. We are very proud of what we have done and we couldn’t be happier with the reception so far,” adds Brandon.
MORE ON THE EP
Yours To Follow boasts a stellar team. Produced by Matt Nozetz (Avebury Studios), mixed by Dave Traina (The Damn Truth), and mastered by Harry Hess (Billy Talent, Three Days Grace), Showcasing, the band’s unique style and sound, Yours to Follow bridges the gap between heavy riffs and pop melodies. Leading track, “Backseat Bingo” features a groovy riff that’s backed by a dancing rhythm with falsetto and belted vocals. The song is a tongue-in-cheek reference to sex. While “Beautiful Day“, gives the listener hope that even in the darkness, we can always make the best of a bad situation. The EP is an ambitious start from a powerful trio. Their lyrics and music combine to form the voice of a generation who’s lost, a generation wanting something better and something new. Hope for tomorrow, but remembering Yester Daze.
