Formed in late 2017, Michigan melodic metalcore 4-piece City State have developed a sound characterized by heart. An imposing, high-octane and technically weighted take on modern day metalcore, City State made their debut with 2018 6-track ‘Finding Solace in Loss’.

The band’s debut single “Enemy Within”, combined with the release of a smash mouth cover of The Wknd & Kendrick Lamar’s “Pray For Me” registered City State on the Michigan heavy scene, one of the most buoyant for up-and-coming post hardcore and metalcore acts in the country – the likes of Hollow Front, It Lies Within, Famous Last Words all currently leading the line.

‘Equinox’ picks off where ‘Finding Solace in Loss’ left off; a visceral and gripping collection, seamlessly balancing blisteringly heavy breakdowns, thunderous guitars and emotionally charged melodies.

Having announced their signing to Famined Records, City State have found the perfect home for their new record, with Famined quickly becoming synonymous with the best in emerging melodic metalcore from across the globe. “Crooked Walls” is the lead single from the band’s sophomore EP ‘Equinox’, out September 20th, 2019.

Watch the new music video for “Crooked Walls” ahead of September’s EP release.
