The bands vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Natalie Carol says of the signing ‘Valley Queen is honoured and excited to be joining the Riot Records / Golden Robot Records family! We really look forward to seeing the music of Supergiant make its way to Australia, Japan, and Europe, with additional tracks added to the album as a surprise. We hope to make our way to these places soon and perform these songs to you live!

Mark Alexander-Erber Group Founder and President says of signing Valley Queen ‘You only have to read the incredible reviews out of the US to see why we were super keen to sign this incredible act , we have worked with Roll Call Records in the US before and this is another venture together , I felt VQ perfectly felt at home under the Riot Records brand , this album from start to finish is so rich in texture and brilliant songwriting , I actually listen to it most days and I cant wait for the rest of the world to hear it for themselves’

Valley Queen formed in 2011 and after a series of singles, released their first EP in 2017 to widespread critical acclaim and toured so much to support it that two members quit citing exhaustion. Forging ahead with session players in tow, frontwoman Natalie Carol and bassist Neil Wogensen continued but when it came time to record what was to become Supergiant, the chemistry required simply wasn’t there. The blood sweat and tears that solidified the band in those formative years needed to be captured on record and after some soul searching, original guitarist Shawn Morones was back in the fold. New drummer Mike DeLuccia cemented the line up and the band hit the studio almost immediately.

The result is Supergiant. Produced by Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, Fool’s Gold, Nikki Lane, FIDLAR), the album jumps out of the speaker with its raw production and relentless intensity.
It’s a record that could not have been made any other way each member bringing their own creative force and energy to every song. It’s about self-exploration not just as an individual but also as a collective whole. “It can be really painful and isolating to go through something that doesn’t really look like anybody else’s experience but your own” Carol says in reflecting on Supergiant’s intensity. “But ultimately that’s part of the beautiful orchestration of being alive—instead of trying to go around that experience you need to go fully into it. I think that’s the only way to get a deeper understanding of who we really are.

With their feet firmly planted in the country and southern rock that Natalie Carol has ingrained in her DNA from growing up in Arkansas and a healthy does of indie rock that ranges from Sonic Youth to Florence and The Machine, Valley Queen appeal to a very diverse range of fans.

Most recently Valley Queen wrapped up a huge 5 week tour of the US opening for So-Cal legends, Social Distortion and country star, Justin Townes Earle, which saw them bridging the music gap between those two acts perfectly. Valley Queen are preparing for a major US tour in February 2019 with plans to visit the UK and Europe by mid year. Supergiant will be released in the UK, Europe, ANZ and Japan in early 2019.

Praise for Valley Queen:
Natalie Carol possesses a stunning voice that can rattle the walls and stir the soul.” – NPR’s All Songs Considered
[Florence] Welch doesn’t actually front the LA combo, but lead singer Natalie Carol exudes a similar powerhouse intensity, one that continues to course through new single ‘Chasing The Muse.’” – Stereogum
On their debut LP, this fantastic L.A. band envelops singer Natalie Carol’s bracingly afflicted, mountain-vaulting dream-country yodel in scrappy, sprawling guitar poetry. Carol can evoke anyone from Grace Slick to Florence Welch to Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries, giving the band’s California roots sound a kind of storm clouds-over-Laurel Canyon feel. “Chasing the Muse” is the weepy, earthen banger, with echoes of Nineties Radiohead in the stalactite guitars and Carol powering through a breakup with raw-boned gusto; “Supergiant” is fuzzed-up power-pop, with Carol’s voice drenched in heavenly echo…  the haunting power of Carol’s voice – at once muscular and fragile, anxious and boundless – keeps the drama high.” – Rolling Stone
