Crisp new German hard driving modern classic heavy metal quintet Turbokill, founded by former Alpha Tiger vocalist Stephan Dietrich, have signed to Steamhammer / SPV to release their vital debut album ‘Vice World’ on October 25th as a DigiPak CD, gatefold red with black swirls vinyl LP (with CD in cardboard case), download and stream.

After he left Alpha Tiger, Stephan set off on an extensive mission to find four exceptional musicians who all shared his love of traditional yet modern classic metal, ultimately recruiting guitarists Ronny Schuster and Daniel Kanzler, bassist Marco ‘Fox’ Grünwald and drummer Philipp ‘Nafta’ Dießl.

“As far as sound goes, we took a leaf out of the book of Judas Priest’s ‘Firepower’”, Dietrich comments, purposefully raising the bar for ‘Vice World’. And knowing all too well that only an ambitious band can achieve truly great things, Stephan states that “right from the first rehearsal we knew we didn’t want to do things by half-measures.”

Turbokill burst out of the blocks in 2018 with the release of their self-titled EP, which garnered an impressive 9/10 in German trade journal ‘Deaf Forever’ and won the band a nomination as one of the top 5 candidates for the support act at the 2018 German Metal Hammer Awards.

April 2019 saw Turbokill signed to Steamhammer / SPV, whose head honcho Olly Hahn stated that “I was impressed by singer Stephan Dietrich when he was a member of Alpha Tiger so there were absolutely no doubts to sign the band. Turbokill’s future looks bright and I’m happy to be a part of it!”

Turbokill more than pulled out all the stops on ‘Vice World’, putting down a plethora of powerful, compelling songs such as ‘War Thunder’, ‘Turbokill’, ‘End Of Days’ or the title track itself all oozing metal from every pore.

‘Global Monkey Show’ exemplifies the general theme of the album’s lyrics; “I always felt that, as a Metal musician, it is my duty to question our seemingly flawless society, ‘Global Monkey Show’ deals with our spending spree, our inflationary mentality of ‘buy, buy, buy’, which we criticise, if in an ironic way.” The same goes for ‘Track N’ Spy’, on which Turbokill question how much always being reachable by smart phone will make us not only mentally dependent but also turn us into transparent citizens. Dietrich; “Everyone is permanently available but that means we can also be constantly monitored. Do we really want that?”

‘Vice World’ is nothing other than a supercharged modern classic heavy metal triumph, performed by an outstanding young band patently on fire as they blaze through the past, present and future of classic heavy metal.
