The White Buffalo, the touring and recording persona of Jake Smith – US singer, songwriter, guitarist, teller of tales has dropped his sixth studio album under new label mate Universal Music/Snakefarm Records. He joined up with the one and only Shooter Jennings for this album and believes it is his most organic and sonically round to date.

The album has Jakes’s signature sound with that sublime vocal that just carries you away in the emotive songwriting and storytelling that few can pull off, yet seems so effortless here. Right away your heartstrings and pushed and pulled with dark emotive and gut-wrenching lyrics and melodies that move you instantly. Tracks like ‘The Drifter’ scar you with its cavernous depth and takes your breath away while songs like ‘No History’ have a more up-tempo and radio-friendly vibe that lifts you back up again.

The albums backbone is the perfect soundtrack to your summer, you can simply imagine yourself enveloped with the majesty of The White Buffalo’s musical embrace and the warm evening breeze blowing through your hair as you chat wax lyrical about the cluster-fuck that is 2020. A route to escapism so badly needed in times like these, the angst and emotion that spills form each and every track are a reminder that such quality albums do still exist, that the creator does not have to be thrust at you at 100mph nor does it need to be pushed down your throat. On The Widow’s Walk takes you back to simpler times where an acoustic guitar and a great storyteller would be all you need to lose yourself in an eleven-track record, in 45-minutes of pure audible bliss.

Jake Smith aka The White Buffalo has produced yet another album of real quality and could well be his finest to date.

The White Buffalo was due to tour the UK next month, but instead just played an interactive (paid for) live-streamed gig last night via Cadenza TV – it was a worldwide stream and fans from 68 countries bought passes for it, which bodes well for the future of touring musicians whose main income is from their shows.   : Http://Cadenza.tv
