Critical acclaim for
Nightmare Daydream:

‘“We’re ready to go wherever the music takes us,’ Demi recently told Kerrang!. On the strength of Nightmare Daydream, it is a road with many intriguing side streets for them to explore. Take the trip.” – Kerrang!

“American rockers The Velveteers aren’t afraid to try new things when it comes to achieving their vision.” – 1883 Magazine

“While Bless Your Little Heart sounds like the most sarcastic James Bond theme song ever recorded, Charmer And The Snake is an amped-up, sexy-dangerous, flamethower takedown of a sleazy wannabe seducer. Scorchio.” – Classic Rock Magazine

“[Demitro’s] alternately powerful and passionate vocals exude personality, and the songs with acoustic and electric approaches are varied enough to never fall into predictability. It all coalesces into one of the more impressive, duskier guitar-driven albums of the year.” – American Songwriter

“…a massive hit of swaggering rock style… their stripped-back sound taps
into something fresh, nasty, and primal.”
 – Under The Radar on Motel #27

The Velveteers, made up of Demitro and dual drummers Baby Pottersmith and Jonny Fig, opened for Guns N’ Roses in August in Denver, CO, underscoring their reputation for uniquely energetic live performances. Westword praised the show in their recent cover story about the band, writing: “Audience members around me were mesmerized as Fig and Pottersmith smashed their drums in sync and Demitro sang with unparalleled intensity.”

Growing up in Boulder, CO, Demitro rebelled through her guitar, practicing up to nine hours a day and neglecting schoolwork to develop a playing style that is heavy but agile, theatrical but nuanced, grounded in rock history but wholly idiosyncratic. With drummers Baby Pottersmith and Jonny Fig playing on a conjoined set, the band developed a reputation for their riotous performances. Clips of the band’s live shows and DIY videos made it back to Auerbach, who invited them to his studio in Nashville to produce Nightmare Daydream. The album finds The Velveteers stripping down rock and roll to its most primal elements—the riff, the rhythm, the snarl—and rebuilding it in their own image.
