Kris Barras Band is certainly a band who are catching the ear as displayed by the fact that since the release of The Divine and Dirty in 2018 they sold 75 tickets for the album launch and returned to play to 500 some 18 months later, playing the main stage at the Garage, London.

The band toured relentlessly as they played 4 headline tours in the UK as well as joining Beth Hart and Joanne Shaw Taylor on tour along with playing numerous shows including Planet Rockstock, joining Black Stone Cherry on their UK tour and then making history by becoming the first band to ever play Ramblin’ Man Fair three tears in a row, each time playing a bigger stage from the Rsising Stage to the Main, displaying perfectly this incredible rise of popularity.

This rise is down to one thing and that is creating impressive music that people enjoy listening to whilst creating a buzz that people need to spread the word about. The ground work for this is the Bluesy, Groovy kinda rock that you can’t help but sing along to and toe taps naturally and this album has 13 tracks full of this, guaranteed to satisfy every Rock ‘n’ Roll desire.

This winning formula begins immediately, with a boot stomping beat, some bluesy riffs and a velvety vocal that has a slight rough edge, bringing some grit to the party. ‘What You Get’ isn’t just the title track of the album, it is a statement of intent for the rest of the album.

‘Ignite (Light It Up)’ really displays the perfect inclusion of the keyboards, providing a dirty south angle on proceedings whilst the rockin’ party continues with full effect. The guitar solos are so smooth that the could drip through your fingers whilst songs like ‘Rain’ slow things down a little whilst stripping things down some which add to the emotion that you feel through the vocal and rhythm sections.

Light It Upis a triumph for more that just Kris Barras Band, it is a display of what a damn good Rock band can produce. It may not have been long since the band released their previous albums but don’t think that this has been rushed or suffers in any way. This album is 47 minutes of impressive music that is certain to be listened to by the masses for a long time.
