When it comes to crafting music that’s both unforgettable and affecting, no other alt-pop band does it better than The Driver Era. Demonstrating their knack for creating ambient and atmospheric alt-pop hits, “Leave Me Feeling Confident” can only be described as a song that contains a perfect vibe. Pulling a pounding drum, crooning vocals and vibey guitars, “Leave Me Feeling Confident” is an ode to love as the pair sings “You leave me feeling feeling confident/you make me wanna go again/I’m not just a friend,“lyrics that perfectly fall into line with the album’s theme & title, GIRLFRIEND.
In addition to the new single, the accompanying lyric video is equal parts compelling & entertaining, gritty images juxtaposed against animated fonts. Watch the lyric video HERE.
“Leave Me Feeling Confident” follows previously released tracks “#1 Fan” and “Heaven Angel,” all pulled from The Driver Era’s upcoming sophomore album. The first single from GIRLFRIEND, “Heaven Angel,” is a punchy track that highlight’s the band’s signature sound, and makes the perfect insight into The Driver Era’s new era. The track received love from the likes of DIY who called the track “funky disco-tinged,” The Aquarian described the song as “Subtle, Sultry, & Swoon-worthy,” and Paper Magazine said the band leans “into the over-the-top charm of their lyrics” and the track carries “theatrical vocals, playful electro production.”
“#1 Fan” and “Heaven Angel” follows the extensive work The Driver Era created & released throughout 2020 after their world tour was postponed due to the pandemic. In 2020 alone, the band released “Fade,” “Places,” “Take Me Away,” and the double release “OMG Plz Don’t Come Around” and “flashdrive“.
The Driver Era will embark on their world tour on November 15th, starting in the United States and traveling to the United Kingdom, Europe and South America in 2022. For tickets and VIP packages, please visit www.thedriverera.com.
Since their debut in 2018 with their hit single “Preacher Man,” the brothers have self written and produced every track they’ve released, including tracks from their 2019 album X – the anthemic “Feel You Now”, the live-show crowd favorite “Scared of Heights” and their alt-radio hit “Low”. In late 2019, the guys unveiled a double release, “A Kiss” and “Forever Always,” despite being apart while Ross was in Vancouver filming Parts 3 & 4 of Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The turbo-charged “A Kiss” grasped the attention of BBC Radio 1, with spins by DJ’s Annie Mack, Mollie & Matt, and Jack Saunders.
About The Driver Era:
For The Driver Era, music can’t – and shouldn’t – be forced. The band, formed by brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch in 2018 while on tour with their former group R5, aims to embrace the present moment, creating songs that reflect each experience and feeling as it comes. It’s a philosophy that pervades all of the duo’s releases, from their debut single “Preacher Man” to their 2019 album X to their latest effort, Girlfriend.
The new album, written and produced by Ross and Rocky in their home studio, encapsulates the past few years of their lives, including songs that date back to 2016 alongside songs written in 2021. The tracks showcase a variety of influences, like INXS, Bruce Springsteen and Prince, and the album features a diverse array of styles, notably pulling on the musicians’ love of hip-hop producers like Pharrell and will.i.am. It’s an album connected by its creators, rather than an overall theme, and it contains only a handful of the massive amount of songs the pair has written recently.
The Driver Era’s fanbase has grown since their inception, encompassing both longtime fans of R5 and new listeners. The band has accumulated 115 million streams, with over 20 million global followers on social media. The Driver Era was featured on People Magazine’s “Emerging Artists” list and the duo has sold out shows all over the world, from Asia to the U.S. to Europe and South America. In R5, toured extensively and spent hours in the studio, skills they’re now able to apply to The Driver Era. Ross is also an acclaimed actor and notably starred in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and biopic film My Friend Dahmer, after spending five years playing Austin Moon on the popular Disney Channel Original Series, Austin & Ally. Girlfriend brings all these years of work together and reveals a band ready to step out into their next chapter.
