Ok, where to start with these guys, they don’t want to be known as a “Supergroup” but that is exactly what they are, consisting of members of Fall Out Boy, Anthrax, Every Time I Die and Alkaline Trio.
why have they waited nearly ten years to release their second album when they could have had a few more masterpieces like this under their collective belts. There are no two ways about it this is one of the finest albums you get your hands on this year, it’s funky, it’s bluesy but most of all it ROCKS. Ten tracks that just seep into your mind and firmly root themselves there, catchy as hell and as anthemic as they come, you can’t go wrong.
‘Cells’ kicks off the album in emphatic fashion with a real punchy feel that runs throughout the album and leads nicely into ‘Something Good’ with its cheerleader style intro before it kicks off with an incessant drum beat and riffs galore. ‘Invincible’ is the first kind of real anthem style sing along on the album and is a cracker; it just sweeps you up in the beat with the hook simply irresistible. ‘Omen’ carries a heavier beat but with a funky little riff running through it. ‘Carry A Brick’ is intense with a much faster pace and gives it an edgier feel, while ‘Storm Charmer’ is a funky blue-esque number that is amazing.
‘Young Hearts’ brings the tempo back up as it rips from start to finish and gives a nice lead into the grungier feeling ‘Keep Crawling’. ‘The Fire Is Cold’ closes out the album much like it opened, funky and in your face.
