A band steeped in musical history, a newly forged partnership born out of the ashes of their musical past with an intention to honour and earn their place beside their fathers. The Allman Betts Band are no ordinary band, no ordinary musicians and from the off that is apparent. There’s a swagger, a confidence and delivery that you don’t get every day, but these guys already have a lifetime doing their thang and that wealth of experience flows across the nine sublimely penned tracks.

The album opener ‘All Night’ serves as a testament to the quality to follow, the full sound of a polished band, the Hammond organ and duelling guitars make the hairs of the back of your neck stand up as you hear the opening bars. ‘Shining’ carries on the theme with a song steeped in heritage, like it was written forty years ago just wraps around you like a warm blanket of bluesy goodness. There’s a soulful quality in the vocals and an effortless simplicity in the songwriting approach that makes it so easy on the ear, songs like ‘Try’ encapsulate that with its addictive melody and catchy hook.

The album flows beautifully as track by track you unearth another gem, that swagger continues across all nine songs as at a canter each recording is unfolded and laid before you. The album has such a relaxed feel to it, effortless in its execution and equally effortless to appreciate as the songs ebb and flows so well. You can simply switch off and give in to the majestic musicianship on display and lose yourself in its beauty.
