TesseracT // P O R T A L S // Album Review

Creativity never rests and when Covid-19 messed everything up, TesseracT did what they do, allow those juices to flow.

P O R T A L S was created as a live cinematic experience fusing screenplay with stunning lighting and live music that allowed fans to truly escape the confines of the pandemic in December 2020 for an amazing experience. By curating a playlist from the entire back catalogue including from the debut EP Concealing Fate, the 2011 release One, Altered State from 2013, Polaris in 2015 and Sonder from 2018. This astonishing collection resulted in a show of 14 tracks that blow your mind for over 2 hours.

Whilst that cinematic experience has been and gone, there is now time to relive P O R T A L S or if you didn’t capture this spectacular, you can dive into the soundtrack or experience the film via DVD or Blu-Ray in this stunning performance.

As you delve straight into ‘Of Matter’ the out of body experience begins as you are transported to a Technical and Progressive audible universe where things are so perfectly balanced and meticulously measured. The atmospherics are brain capturing and the vocals soar through the gravity-free field whilst the guitars fire angled and precise shots through the emptiness.

With ‘Of Matter’ spanning the opening night on 14 minutes, you will feel completely immersed in this experience before ‘King’ lands with glorious heavy djent that is paralleled by the beautiful vocal and hypnotic backing that soothes whilst also pushing musical boundaries.

The way that TesseracT has also captured the live performance in this audible offering really sets the standard in what can be achieved and pushes the bar for what is now expected from these kinds of packages. In a time where bands couldn’t get out on the road, attention turned toward other ways of bands sharing their music with fans and continue to be discovered by future fans and what TesseracT have bottled up will be the envy of all.

P O R T A L S is so much more than a recording of a live show, it is the wrap-around experience that stands so far above what has been on offer through this difficult time and will also stand the test of longevity. This fresh way of sharing the music is not only refreshing but also extremely fulfilling. What an incredible package this is.

P O R T A L S will be released 27th August 2021 via KSCOPE.
