“Put on your headphones and go out into the sunlight my friend, and bring ‘Celexa Dreams’ with you” The ProgSpace
Ahead of the synth-rock outfit returning to the live circuit in August and September, KYROS have demonstrated a productive pandemic by announcing ‘RECOVER’, a selection of cover songs featuring special guests that the band recorded throughout lockdown last year as well as some more choice cuts to add to the collection.
‘RECOVER’ will be released on CD and digital format on August 20th 2021 via White Star Records.
Some of the guests on the album include John Mitchell of Frost*/Lonely Robot, and Ray Hearne of Haken and Andy Robison of IHLO.
Standing as one of many bands that have adapted to a new professional landscape in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Isolation Sessions that resulted in ‘Celexa Streams’ became favourably viewed as an opportunity for Kyros fans to gather together with a shared love of the band’s music and to feel the support of a music based community throughout the pandemic.
This will be the first musical output since singer and keyboard player of Kyros, Shelby Logan Warne, announced that she is transgender and currently undergoing transitioning. The overwhelming support from Kyros fans has instilled a new wave of motivation and creative inspiration for the four piece, who embark on the road next month to perform live.

Shelby Logan Warne, vocalist and keys, says this “We’ve always worn our influences on our sleeves when it comes to how we approach the Kyros material, so it felt appropriate to take that a step further through the lockdown period and dedicate one of our Isolation Gigs to paying homage to some of our favourite songs from some of our favourite bands. When it came to putting this out as a proper release, we wanted to take yet another step further and throw a few more songs into the mix and explore some deeper cuts. And thus, RECOVER was born! “
The first song taken from the album to be released in an official capacity is Kyros’s rendition of ‘The Good Doctor’ from Haken, featuring Ray Hearne from Haken (!) on drums and Andy Robison of IHLO on vocals. The song will be available on DSP’s this Friday 23rd July.
Ray Hearne (Haken) says this about the collaboration
“Recording The Good Doctor with the Kyros guys (on what felt like the hottest day of 2020!) was super fun and almost felt like playing a Haken show again! The guys did a great job with this cover version, working in all manner of cool Kyros quirks and a beautiful array of Scottish male vocal tones. Truly wonderful!”
Andy Robison (IHLO) says
“It was great to work on this cover version that blends two of my favourite bands in the progressive music scene together! I’ve got a huge admiration for the band, so to be part of that process for this was awesome!”
