The Erkonauts’ encompass a veritable smorgasbord of musical influences, as their music explores a musical landscape that pulls on a variety of threads. From the intense melodic prowess of Mastodon, the chaoticness of System of a Down, to the pulsing and relentless rhythmic mastery of Gojira, The Erkonauts form a sound that simultaneously hypnotises and delivers a powerful drop-kick to the face.
The band released two animated music videos in the lead up to the release that craft the emotive journey of the music. So far the band has received praise and coverage from Metalsucks, Guitar World, Knotfest, Bass Player, Metal Hammer and more.
Of the album, The Erkonauts’ vocalist and bassist Ales Campanelli comments:
“This album is without a doubt my most personal work, and the most honest I’ve ever been with myself during the creative process. ‘I Want It To End’ comes from hard times, heavy struggles and a lot of self-loathing. It was kind of a make or break situation. I put my last energy into it and came out feeling totally rejuvenated. A therapy of sorts. The people who worked and played on the record totally understood the situation and gave stellar performances and guidance. ‘I Want It To End’ stands for a need for change.”
Ales Campanelli is known for his previous work in Sybreed, current bass playing in Samael, and singer/songwriter for The Erkonauts. The album also features guest vocals from Ben Nominet for the track The Cult of a Burning Star.
Recorded and mixed by Drop at Downtone studio and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, ‘I Want It To End’ is out now and bundles are available now via the band’s website.
