SUNSET JET ARE BACK WITH ANTHEMIC NEW INDIE SINGLE ‘FEEL BETTER’
Isle Of Man indie-pop trio Sunset Jet are back today with their new single, the anthemic and driving Feel Better. The Britpop-inspired new song combines a timely exploration of mental health issues with hazy guitars and vibrant pop hooks. It’s available on all streaming platforms now.
Feel Better explores the feeling of exasperation at the simplistic attitudes and the lack of empathy shown by some individuals towards the mental health of others,” explains frontman Brad Meechan. “From the perspective of some, a positive frame of mind can be achieved by simply smiling (like the lyric “like my problems would fade forever with a smile on my face”), whereas for others it’s more complex. It’s sung as a response from an individual who has reached breaking point with the lack of empathy shown by a counter-party. The main confrontation reaches its head in the chorus which erupts with “feel better? As if I’d choose to feel this way.”
Originally formed on the Isle of Man in 2018, Sunset Jet have played over 150 gigs throughout the UK. The band settled on the final current line-up of Brad, Dan and JJ in early 2020.
Combining indie-rock and Britpop influences with the classic surf-pop of The Beach Boys, Sunset Jet have released a string of poppy and energetic singles so far; Nice Guy, WDYB, Wine Drunk, Messiah, Live The Masquerade, Scarlett, Happiness Is A Work Of Art and Smile. More new singles are scheduled for release throughout 2021.
