From France : SOME SMOKING GUYS
Album “Regular Faces” out october, 20th !
“Regular Faces”, first single in video clip by Maxime Gaudet:
A clip where we cross anonymous faces, characters devoid of any posture, a direct confrontation between dailies and passions. Like a training carried by a tangible tension and blackness never lead.
Without denying his abrasive and stoner rock, Some Smoking Guys reveals a new facet of his personality. More meticulous and rich in pop lines, Regular Faces is full of melodic ideas, dynamic stakeholders, heady harmonies. The nine tracks were recorded with Alain Wits (Agar Agar, Mesparrow, Isaac Delusion, Nugget) at Studio 33 in Normandy, and mixed by Hugo Barré at Mascarons Studios.
Do not expect pieces inviting to flirt on green hills. The disc is crossed by a tangible tension and blackness never lead. What is striking is the link between brute violence and immediate seduction, primary pleasure and efficiency. We meet anonymous faces, beautiful losers, characters devoid of any posture, a confrontation with wildlife. Everything is tamed by the crepuscular and heart-catching voice of François-Gaël.
Some Smoking Guys enjoy here a palette of tones and atmospheres, glide from an enjoyable pop anthem (Glorious) to bursts and bites (Two Fingers), brings a bowl of fresh water to the melancholy with a joy disco-pop (Twisted soul), alternates in the same song titanic riffs that fit together at full speed and varying angles (Devil). There is also a feline ballad that airs halfway a very dense interior (Vision of the past), bites as hot as it is angry (WWYS), electric hooks (Shiny Day) and an organic electro production (Room 15). And as the concerts are loaded in intensity, Some Smoking Guys definitely risk introducing a poisonous melodic taste to drug the senses.
