Lawdy Lawwwd! Smith/Kotzen are back with another blistering EP to whet the appetite further after their stunning debut self-titled album album release earlier this year. This gruesome twosome are an indelible force both on the six-string and as powerhouse vocalists, bringing such a bitchin’ flavour to their recordings that you can’t help but scream out “Lawdy Lawd Take Me Now!” Or maybe that’s just me?
This is as tasty as it gets, sadly a four track EP, the guitar Gods giveth and they taketh away! But this is just an overspill from their original release as these two crazy cats weren’t done just yet, no doubt the musical juices are flowing like the proverbial wine, Smith/Kotzen just seem to work that little bit of magic together and it shows once again on this fine recording.
Kevin Shirley is back also to bring his “je ne sais quoi” to proceedings and that never hurts, until he gives you the bill, but Smith/Kotzen know the craic by now. The EP is just savage from start to finish, there’s a real bite to Smith/Kotzen’s songwriting that is direct, in your face, unapologetic and it is bitchin’. You know the guitar work is going to be sublime, but the overall package is to be admired here, and unexpected collaboration bearing fruits beyond our wildest imagination.
