Singer-Songwriter Liam Kyle Cahill Announces New Album
ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM
UNVEILS SINGLE “CARRY FIRE” LOVE YOU TO LIFE OUT NOVEMBER 5th
Geologist and singer-songwriter Liam Kyle Cahill is set to release a collection of folk-rock songs titled Love You To Life, which is due out on November 5, 2021. To commemorate the release of his new EP, Cahill will be playing a record release show at Reno’s Mountain Music Parlor on Saturday, November 6th featuring special guest Charlie Marks. In addition, he unveiled the track “Carry Fire” which is an apology for doing something that was best for him but certainly hurt the other person (video below).
Produced by Brian Deck (Counting Crows, Iron & Wine, River City Extension) and mastered by Greg Calbi (Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie), Cahill’s new material is a cultured fleshing-out of his sunny yet deceptively nuanced songcraft. The raw punk/metal edge from his past has made way for three-dimensional musicality, deft wordplay, and subtle layers of sentiment well suited to his vintage-gentleman aesthetic. Influences like Frank Turner, Brian Fallon, Chuck Ragan, and The Avett Brothers remain, but Cahill’s truly found his voice this time – literally and metaphorically.
“Most of my songs are deeply personal,” explains Cahill. “But I try to write them in such a way that other people can connect to them in their own way.” Nostalgic and grateful, the title track “Love You To Life” embroiders Cahill’s signature bare-faced melody and utter authenticity with cultured strings and mandolin. Intimate and restless, including an arresting mid-song mood shift, “I Can Barely Breathe” captures all the chaos and confusion of emotional treachery, but ultimately embraces closure from lessons learned. “Carry Fire” finds him apologizing for making a huge life decision that hurt the other person but was ultimately best for him. “I Want You Like a Seatbelt” isn’t your typical cover song; It was recorded by the same producer (Brian Deck) and in the same studio (SHIRK Studios in Chicago) where Chadwick Stokes of Dispatch originally recorded it.
Having taught himself guitar and songwriting while in college, Cahill set out on the noble but often numbing life of a full-time musician; self-releasing albums and playing every house party, club, coffee shop, and casino that would have him and his Bedell acoustic. He released an album (The Key To Happiness), and two EPs (Ode to Wisconsin, Four Leaf Clover), as well as three singles between 2012 and 2016. During this time, he shared the stage with folks such as Frank Turner, Chuck Ragan, and Jon Snodgrass. Festival appearances include Augtoberfest, The Black Potatoe Music Festival, Lucidity, and Off Beat Arts & Music Festival. His new EP Love You To Life will be released worldwide on November 5th.
