Although still a rising talent, Charlotte Jane is a firm favourite amongst big name artists having recently played shows with Sam RyderRag’n’Bone Man and just announced Zak Abel this autumn, as well picking up famous fans such as Elton JohnLewis Capaldi and Calum Scott. Now Charlotte Jane celebrates her new-found artistic independence with the release of ‘Coming Home’, her first new music in over a year. LISTEN HERE.

When you’ve spent some time rediscovering who you are as an artist and a person, it’s only natural that reconnecting with your roots will be a big part of the process. In ‘Coming Home’, Charlotte Jane vows that she’s “been down that road where they do it all for show and they won’t go back” with a passion that shows that she means everything she says.

Charlotte Jane says “‘Coming Home’ is about falling in love with where you’re from even though it’s a bit rough around the edges and it’s also about accepting who you are, flaws and all. The music video is all about showing the best parts of Hull, with a big focus on shining a light on some of my favourite local independent businesses. I think this is the perfect reintroduction for me, and it’s hard to explain how good it feels.”

Charlotte Jane co-wrote the song with James Earp (Lewis Capaldi) and the pair produced the track alongside Phil Cook (Ellie Goulding).

Music has been a big part of Charlotte Jane’s life since childhood. She would join rehearsals with her musician grandparents from a young age, singing classics from Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding. She continued to scale up from there, from joining The Voice in a Million arena choir in her teens to honing her songcraft in her bedroom and then having a big opportunity to work with Toby Gad of Beyoncé and John Legend fame – a journey which also included a brief relocation from Hull to Singapore. Her early artist single ‘Nervous’ was her first track to reach millions of streams, while her reputation continued to flourish with two EPs and a selection of standalone tracks.

There will be much more new music to come from Charlotte Jane throughout the rest of the year. Expect further live shows too, starting with a set at Hideaway Festival on August 5th as part of a line-up led by Clean Bandit, James Bay and Ella Henderson.
