Go and have a bit of fun with some Finns….
Shiraz Lane released their acclaimed second album, ‘Carnival Days’, in the early spring of 2018.
The promotion of it began last October with a first single (‘Harder To Breathe’) and an extensive
European tour with Brother Firetribe, and has been maintained throughout 2018. A video for current
single ‘The Crown’ has been made available today and is followed in late August by UK tour dates.
The band have this to say about the new promo clip, which is the third for songs from the new album
and features some of Finland’s best known radio and sport personalities, including former European
middleweight boxing champion Amin Asikainen and current table tennis pro Miikka O’Connor :
”This video shows a different side of what we are. So far most of our videos have been quite serious
minded or classic rock n’ roll flicks. We deliberately wanted to break that streak with a humorous
storyline that might freak out rock purists at first glance, but will certainly melt everyone’s hearts by
the end. The song itself is an ode to self-confidence and perseverance, and that theme is firmly
instilled in the video, albeit seasoned with some comedic value.”
Shiraz Lane personifies creative variety, which resonates through their double-edged guitar sound
(provided by lead guitarist Jani Laine and rhythm guitarist Miki Kalske), groovy-yet-solid ground
pounding (Ana Willman on drums and bassist Joel Alex) and unmistakable high-soaring melodies
of singer Hannes Kett. Despite their relative youth, they are already veterans of the underground
circuit in their home territory of Finland and have developed a reputation for being uncompromising,
loud and – most of all – the genuine article.
Although inspired by predecessors in their genre such as Aerosmith and Guns N’ Roses, the sound
of Shiraz Lane is developing into something unique, while the likes of Halestorm, The 69 Eyes,
Amorphis, Children Of Bodom, Lordi and Sonic Syndicate have all praised the band’s stage prowess.
Their debut album, ‘For Crying Out Loud’ was released in the spring of 2016 and was a success story
from the very beginning in many European territories. The young rockers spent that summer playing
festivals before packing their gear for a two month European tour with Lordi. Aside from the recording
of ‘Carnival Days’, they have barely been off the road ever since. The quintet will complete 2018 with
a month long mainland European tour alongside H.E.A.T. and Frontiers labelmates One Desire.
