Rising Bangkok, Thailand alternative metal band Defying Decay will join Atreyu on their upcoming ‘The Baptize Tour’ of the U.S., alongside fellow supporting acts Crown The Empire, Tetrarch, and Saul.

The band says, “We’re Defying Decay all the way from Bangkok, Thailand and to be able to have this opportunity to come ten thousands of miles away from our home to play shows is just really beyond our dreams. Especially with bands we grew up listening to. We’ll be performing our best so expect us!”

Defying Decay started off as a high school kid project back in 2011. The main difference between this and your usual pubescent bunch of lads doing music was that it was formed by very passionate, ambitious, and talented high school kids. The original lineup of the band included Jay Poom Euaruchukiati, Howard Fang, Reymez Khan, and Kongpop Thongrat. All coming from different backgrounds and schools, they found each other through a series of concert nights, musical meet-ups, and other social gatherings where they had the freedom to share their interest in the foundational genre of their soon-to-be band: Metal.

This determined band was able to release their 1st record in 2015, fully self-funded and self-produced with select records mixed by industry giant, Joey Sturgis. They also successfully pulled off their album launch in the same year at Central World, bringing in 700 concertgoers. This was a highly unusual and unexpected album launch turnout for a metal band. Overnight, Defying Decay has become a steady-selling band for metal gigs in Bangkok and several major cities. The band continued to create 1 more studio album and 1 live album with professional production by the likes of Matt Hyde, Shane Edwards, Joey Sturgis, Chris Lord Alge, and many more.

Over the years, a high school kid project became a career and the members had to choose their career path. 3 members chose different paths but the frontman, Jay Euaruchukiati remained. He brought in new members Chitipat Wanyasurakul and Nattanat Ujjin on guitars, Bannachon Boonphaopong on turntables, Itthiphol Thongboonma on Bass, Natanich Bunsila on Keys/Synth and Mark Mironov on Drums to fulfill the original vision in creating the first English speaking metal band from Thailand to truly make it big in the Western Hemisphere.

Since 2016, the band has been actively touring internationally, starting off with Asian countries within the vicinity of Thailand like China, Philippines, Singapore, Japan, and so on also extending out to Russia and United Kingdom in 2019. The band was able to play their first headline shows in their 2016 China tour. This marked the beginning of a new standard for the band that only had their 1st record created just 1 year ago. More exciting years came and went, playing on numerous stages and touring alongside Motionless in White (US), Wildways (Russia), Of Mice and Men and many more. The band had the pleasure of playing on the main stage of Heartown festival 2017 in Taiwan and many more.

Defying Decay had a dream come true moment when they were invited to play in Hammersonic festival 2020, the biggest metal festival in all of Asia. The intended headliner was Slipknot, one of the biggest metal band in the world. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 pandemic breakout, the event was postponed and it is yet to be determined when it will come back.

In November and December 2021, the band takes another important step in their career, playing across the whole US as support for Atreyu’s North American headline tour.
