Random Ties – A Heavy-Hitting Rock Band Based In Detroit Talk Humanitarian Crisis With Rock ‘N’ Load 18/08/2020 News 14 So for anyone unfamiliar with yourself, tell us a little bit about your backstory and how you ended up here. Hey everyone I am Youssef the frontman for Random Ties a heavy-hitting rock band based in Detroit. First, let me take you back to 2018 which was when I moved to the US from Lebanon, I didn’t know anyone or how the music scene was so I started going to open mics with my acoustic guitar & meeting other musicians then one thing lead to another & me the rest of the guys. Our start defines the type of band we are when I think about it, when we first started we didn’t have a reputation in the music scene & no promoter would return our messages so what I would do is follow all the venues around us on social media & in case a booked band canceled an appearance last minute & the promoter or venue needed a fill-in we’d be ready to hope in our car & be available to play the show. We have, KD who plays the drums thunderously bringing that heavy-hitting power with amazing fills & breaks, Thew whose on the second guitar, compliments my playing with his fills that are all over our EP & Steven originally from Nirvana’s hometown brought a grunginess to the album with some great baselines. What’s Happening Now: Tell us about what you are currently up to. Thawra – “From the Womb of Sadness a revolution is born” There is so much going on around us good & bad & what better way to channel that energy & express it via music. Our new single “Thawra” was inspired by the deadly attack that happened in Lebanon on August 4th that rocked the nation, leaving over 300,000 people displaced & thousands still missing or dead. This humanitarian crisis really hit me hard, the blast is only second to the Hiroshima bomb, this prompted me to write “Thawra” & work with the uncredible Layal @Ipr1ncess who produced the video with the most authentic shots of what’s going on down there. We hope this song will shed light & raise awareness of what’s going on in Lebanon. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Lebanese Red Cross so if you do decide to contribute would be to purchase the single via our Bandcamp page https://randomties.bandcamp.com/track/thawra & you can watch the video on https://youtu.be/fv9cC_iLZk4 We also released our first EP “Believe” in June you can stream on spotify https://open.spotify.com/artist/2AgVtBezXj5svd8gDr2Gar , this was the EP I put on hold for years, I wrote & did allot of the stuff myself as opposed to previously, I would work with a group. What is next for you? Given that the future of live shows is up in the air, we are turning to social media more to connect with our fans & new listeners, keeping them engaged with engaging content via our Insta page https://www.instagram.com/randomtiesofficial/ We want to remain consistent by providing quality music to our audience & reach a wider fan base geographically so a big thanks to you for giving us this interview & a voice, building on our reputation as a rock band that is a voice for the less fortunate & defiant to corruption & abuse of power. Influences & Inspiration For this section can any band members give me an example of an artist’s track that influenced or inspired them to chase a career in music. The Beatles were a big inspiration & I find myself listening to While my guitar Gently Weeps allot these days by the great Georges Harrison, what he was saying then is still true now “I look at you all see the love that’s sleeping, still my guitar gently wheeps” https://youtu.be/6SFNW5F8K9Y Mr. Harrison was a visionary, a man of peace & love who wrote music that still today isn’t matched in my humble opinion. If you can supply us with a YouTube link for the track so I can post the video in the feature, and give me a quote as to why this particular artist captured your imagination and influenced or inspired you to want to follow suit.
