Prophetic Scourge – French Technical Death Metal Crew Share Video For “The King – An Odyssey Begins Aright”
French technical death-metal crew Prophetic Scourge have just revealed a play-through video for the opening track of their imminent second album “Gnosis – A Sorrower ‘s Odyssey”, set for release on October 29 on Klonosphere Records/Season of Mist.
The video for “The King – An Odyssey Begins Aright” is now playing at Metal Injection at this location.
A concept release inspired in Homer’s classical tale Odysseus and revolving around his journey back home and coping with sentiments of loss, guilt and regret, “Gnosis – A Sorrower ‘s Odyssey”is the successor to the band’s critically acclaimed debut album “Calvary” released in 2018 and sees the Frenchmen perfecting and razor-sharpening their death metal style, offering seven new tracks guaranteed to pummel the eardrums of listeners with a brutal concoction of heavy, razor-sharp riffs, a punishing beats and intensely brutal vocals.
Founded in 2013 by vocalist Josh Smith, guitarists Robin Claude and Romain Larregain, drummer Jon Erviti and bassist Olivier, the group recorded their first effort, a five-track demo titled “Corrupt Karmik Invigilators” in early 2015. The demo garnered some positive reactions in French media and allowed the quintet to play in France and Spain, securing opening slots for bands such as Six Feet Under, Eryn Non Dae, Fleshdoll, Psykup and Benighted.
Motivated by such enthusiastic reactions, the group started working on their first album “Calvary”, which was released in late 2018 via Klonosphere Records/Season of Mist and marked the debut of new bass player Thibault Claude. The album was met with great critical acclaim and offered them the chance to tour throughout Europe and play at Hellfest.
