Selected praise for last LP “We Are Always Alone”:

“With ceaseless, snarling brutality, the Texas post-hardcore trio’s second album finds a new level of confidence to express the pointlessness of existence.” Pitchfork – 7.8

We Are Always Alone is a brutal, bloody-minded, immersive album. Drumrolls explode like grenades. Guitars clang and screech and bay. Ominous clanks and whirrs and hums fill the space between songs. King screams like he’s got broken glass lodged in his throat, like the blood he’s gargling is making it so he can’t form the words quite right.”
Stereogum – Album Of The Week

“Astonishing, punishing.”
Beats Per Minute – 85/100

Take a trip with Portrayal of Guilt’s ominous new video “…where the suffering never ends”, directed by Craig Murray.

“…where the suffering never ends” is the newest single from Portrayal of Guilt’s forthcoming album CHRISTF***** on which they plunge headfirst into unfathomable depths, creating a work of art that’s powerfully unsettling. “We think of it partially in the sense of scoring a horror movie,” guitarist/vocalist Matt King says. “We wanted to create an atmosphere of anxiety and fear.” The entirety of CHRISTF***** is set to unrelenting, nihilistic, howling soundscapes, created by King, drummer James Beveridge, and bassist, Alex Stanfield. By way of hypnotic guitar patterns, industrial rhythms and oppressive heaviness —  each track tells a story set in the darkest of settings for the listener to interpret and explore.

It’s their second full-length of 2021 following January’s acclaimed album, We Are Always Alone. This time around, Portrayal of Guilt have signed to Run For Cover and joined forces with prominent NYC producer Ben Greenberg (Uniform, Pharmakon, Bing & Ruth). CHRISTF***** features guest vocals from Jenna Rose of New York darkwave outfit Anatomy (on “Sadist”) and Touché Amoré vocalist Jeremy Bolm (on “Fall From Grace”).

CHRISTF***** is out November 5 on Run For Cover – pre-order it here. In two weeks, Portrayal of Guilt hit the road for the first time since the pandemic and the release of We Are Always Alone. Highlights include a full run with Uniform and dates with Sheer Mag, Code Orange and more. See below for a full list of dates and go here to purchase tickets.
