Melbourne-based rock’n’roll band PAGAN have announced more UK shows and support for the The Evil Eye Tour- a slew of headline shows this May in the UK and Europe. The band will be be playing an extra set at The Great Escape Festival as well as playing this years Aussie BBQ at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London. Supporting the band on the UK headline dates will be Sick Joy and Pleiades and support in Germany will come from their new friends in Microwave. The shows will see a procession that will bring their dance floor of death back to a few familiar places and through some new ones too.
“We’ve been dying to get back to the other side of the world since the very day we left last December. We still haven’t come down from witnessing, first hand, the response that our album ‘Black Wash’ has received throughout the UK and Europe and how receptive and wild people were at those shows last year. We’re playing a small string of headline shows again on this tour which we can’t wait for, but also get to do a bunch of festivals this time which will be a whole new experience for us. We’re stoked to have Microwave on tour with us for our German dates this time too. They’re such an amazing band and I think they’ll make these shows really interesting. The four of us cannot wait to give you all the Evil Eye”

Pagan – Nikki Brumen (vocals), Xavier Santilli (guitar), Dan Bonnici (bass), Matt Marasco (drums) – have had what can only be described as an incredible reception to their debut album. The singles received spins on BBC’s Radio 1, Kerrang! Radio & triple j Home & Hosed, Short.Fast.Loud and The Racket. Global press reaction has also been somewhat rapturous for Pagan’s debut album Black Wash, a collection of 11 songs (‘spells’, in Pagan speak) by four people who have each experienced their own individual Hells but walked through the flames together, hand in hand, brought to life by producer Mike Deslandes. Together, they pay homage to their punk rock and heavy music ethics (‘The Greatest Love Songs’), draw inspiration from the dancefloors of neon-soaked discotheques (‘Year of the Dog’) and back-alley rock and roll clubs of old ( ‘Silver’), rebelling against the rules and nostalgic romanticism that seem to plague underground music to this day.
The drama of Black Wash plays out over the backdrop of a very organic, dynamic and fluent rock and roll soundtrack that bravely walks a tightrope between pretty and delicate restraint, catchy-as-hell dance rhythms and monolithically heavy walls of sound and fury, all meticulously crafted and agonisingly arranged by Daniel, Matthew and Xavier.
Pagan released their debut album via Hassle Records (frnkiero andthe cellabration, Casey, Petrol Girls) in Europe and the UK last Summer.
