“Slinky Metronomy style synth melodies to some crunching indie vibes.” – CLASH

“A true progression from their stripped down pure funk sound, richly layered” – Louder Than War

‘“A thumping banger, like Happy Mondays meets Franz Ferdinand!”’ – Chris Hawkins, BBC 6Music
With their debut album ‘Hardship Starship’ ready to impact this Friday – NO HOT ASHES – today tease the release with a playful new video for: ’Extra Terrestrial’.
WATCH HERE:

Directed by videographer Sam Crowston, the new video finds the band looking pretty in pink as they perform their out-of-this-world new single at a studio in Manchester. In line with the band’s sci-fi themed new album, the video also sees frontman Isaac Taylor bringing a whole new school of thought to the theory of a “doughnut shaped” universe in its closing moments….
Inspired by the feeling of finding that special person you would cross galaxies for, ‘Extra Terrestrial’ is the anthemic new single from Stockport’s fastest and finest emerging band of 2019.
Speaking about the track, No Hot Ashes say:
“Extra Terrestrial Is a song about relationships and knowing someone better than you know yourself. The constant fat bass lines matched with shouty choruses implore you to move. We were trying for something catchy with this one.”
Released this Friday via Modern Sky UK (Calva Louise, The Blinders), No Hot Ashes’ debut album ‘Hardship Starship’ is a cosmic epic that sees the band looking to the stars to escape the drudgery of Brexit Britain. Packed with star-gazing moments from start to finish, ‘Motion Sick’ reflects on the loneliness of too much “space-cruising” away from your loved ones, whereas ‘Paradise/Overdrive’ offers a weightless proposition of smooth jazz arrangements and an elating chorus about getting high (astronomically, speaking of course). Elsewhere the title-track ‘Hardship Starship’ and ‘Indecision/Intermission’ take in a satellite view over the cratered landscape of the United Kingdom in 2019, with the latter track even featuring a sample of ex-Imperial overlord David Cameron.
‘Hardship Starship’ judders to a close with ‘Hey Casanova’, one of the band’s biggest sing-along moments to date with an accelerating drumbeat and sky scraping indie riffage setting a course for the stars with trailblazing style.
‘Hardship Starship’ was produced by Chris Taylor (The Coral, Everything Everything, Ian Brown,  Bill Ryder Jones) at Parr Street studios in Liverpool whom the band met in early 2018 whilst in the thick of demos and writing for the upcoming debut album, they formed an instant connection with Chris which can be felt throughout the whole record.
Another formidable talent to emerge from Stockport, Greater Manchester in recent times, No Hot Ashes have been making waves around the North-West and beyond for the last few years. With a string of infectious singles in their repertoire including ‘Easy Peeler’, ‘Bellyaches’, and ‘Eight Till Late’, the band have received continued support across radio from the likes of BBC 6 Music and Radio X. Soaking up major support slots with the likes of Blossoms, Spring King, The Amazons and Prides around the UK, not to mention major festival appearances at the likes of Y NOT Festival, Isle of Wight and Kendal Calling, the band have already amassed over 3.5 million plays on Spotify. Word is spreading fast, so much so that the band were even asked to perform on hit BBC series ‘The A-Word’, Which was aired in the UK on BBC 1 and globally.
Following a landmark SOLD-OUT show at the 950 capacity Manchester Academy 2 last year (which sold out over a month before the show date) and recent sell out at Manchester’s AATMA (in which 150 tickets sold out in under 10 minutes), fans will have the chance to catch the band this Autumn as they prepare for an extensive run of UK & EIRE dates this Autumn, which includes a huge headline date in the North at Manchester’s O2 Ritz.
