New Jersey alternative rockers Serious Matters have unveiled their debut album.

‘Mistaking Wasps for Dragonflies’ (YouTube/Spotify) offers a candid but relatable look at the struggles of mental health, with the band nodding heavily to the 00’s alternative rock/post-hardcore scene on their rookie LP.

Formed in 2016 by Criss Madd and Kenny Byles with only a few demos in hand, Serious Matters emerged onto the scene into 2016 with debut EP ‘Can You See the Sky from Here?’.

With momentum continuing to steadily build across the Northeast, 2017 saw the release of follow up ‘Through It All’, a promising follow up showcasing a grit and determination than personifies the young band.

The New Jersey outfit take influence from across alternative rock, post-hardcore and punk, delivering a sound that balances impactful, driving guitars with emotive lyricism; nods to the likes of Thrice, Taking Back Sunday and Coheed & Cambria evident on Serious Matters’ new full-length, ‘Mistaking Wasps for Dragonflies’
