Ever turned a gloomy mood into an inspirational song ?
This is what French-trio Back on Earth are delivering with « Upside Down ». Sticking to their pop-punk vibes signature, the touch of emo here is provided by the one and only AJ Perdomo from The Dangerous Summer. His unique raging voice gives a whole new dimension to the track, offering an intensity similar to what he’s usually doing with his own band. While you can easily hear that « Upside Down » was inspired by early 2000’s The Starting Line or Cartel, Back On Earth offer a sound that reminds us of our teenage years, and yet fits just right in 2022.
« Upside Down » is not just a catchy song. In depth, lyrics are reflecting this daily struggle we are facing with our own demons, and the ability to bounce back. Everyone can relate: they put words on what we might not be able to explain ourselves, to a song that takes us away from everything, for a few minutes.
This new release follows « Runaway » that came out last October. The band recently joined the label Red Toad Music, and are ready to embark on a new era with even more pop-punk songs for 2022.
The single comes with a nostalgic music video which depicts the contrast between a young love’s elation and the loneliness it leaves behind. The video was directed by London-based artist Arthur Walwin and Back on Earth’s Mehdi Lakhlifi.
About the Band
Ever since their formation in 2009, Back On Earth firmly established themselves in the French Pop-Punk scene with 4 EPs to their credit and playing shows supporting international bands like Motion City Soundtrack and Turnover whilst headlining shows across France and the United Kingdom. In Early 2021 the band released a slightly different track “I Don’t Wanna Let You Know” followed by their pop-rock track “Typical” reminiscent to the sounds of All Time Low, The 1975 or The Maine.
