To say Nadia Sheikh has had a huge start to 2020 would be an understatement. The half English, half Spanish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist released her first single of the year ‘Get Away’ and has been on the road across the UK and Europe supporting Stereophonics. Now adding to her onslaught of activity, Nadia will be releasing her new EP ‘Everybody Hears But No One’s Listening’ on the 28th February.
The 5-track package (produced by Nigel Walker and Jamie Morrison) is a culmination of Nadia’s impressive career so far. An indie-rock triumph of anthemic singalong choruses, arena-worthy vocal performances, splatterings of pop, big room guitar work and infectious, memorable moments from start to finish. Backed by her foundation-laying band; Rowan Davies (bass), George Gardiner (drums) and Lorenzo Passarella (guitar), Nadia has been touring the EP in the UK, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg and more with Stereophonics, and has received incredible feedback and reviews across the board. Taking her sound from the studio to the stage, this is an optimistic project of good-time tunes, heartfelt lyrics and full throttle performances from the get-go. Nadia added:
“Everybody Hears But No One’s Listening’ is a very eclectic mix of songs, they are all very dear to me and the lyrics are very personal to me too. Some come from personal experiences and others are my observations of the world. They’re all very poppy but you have the rockier side with tracks like ‘Toxic’ and ‘Get Away’ and the more intimate part with the bonus track ‘The Wire.’ They’re all very different but it all connects and is very representative of myself as an artist and songwriter, and also the sound the boys and I currently have.”
Taking you on a journey of sorts, Nadia’s EP explores no-nonsense emotive music that stays with the listener. In fact, she’s received some incredible support from some of the biggest names in the business since starting out in 2013, including This Feeling, Radio X, BBC Radio 2, Radio 3 (Spain), BBC Introducing, Planet Rock, Rolling Stone France, BT TV, RTVE and many more. She’s also conquered stages across the globe, including festivals such as Isle Of Wight and FIB Benicassim, as well as countless headline shows and her recent 16-date stint with Stereophonics.
Keeping the momentum up to maximum effect, Nadia Sheikh is already thriving as the new decade begins, but with a new EP on the way, she’s only just getting started on what promises to be a huge point in her career.
