Looking on Ketzer‘s musical history, change is what has always defined their sound. From thrashing riffs to atmospheric blackened tunes, Ketzer is a band that has always aimed to defy genres. So what can we expect on Cloud Collider? Nothing more than a ride on a storm cloud, followed by a soft breeze in your face and, finally, a cleansing rainfall. Ketzer‘s fourth effort will surprise many as a shift into yet another direction, combining many of the band’s essential trademarks and carrying them one step further: Raging drum beats, harsh and powerfully thrashing riffs, as well as epic melodies that will haunt you long after the last tone has faded away.

Cloud Collider was recorded at Markus Stock’s infamous “Klangschmiede Studio E” as well as Laurent Teubl’s “Sculpt Sound Studios” in autumn 2018. The suitable visual expression for the album has been found by cover artist Adam Burke and illustrator Johannes Stahl. After three years of intese work, Ketzer have created an album that can only be described as a milestone in their career and a clean break from all expectations: this album is a storm. Look out…

Hamferð announces new EP ‘Ódn’ and releases video for title track!

Today, Faroese doomsters Hamferð have released a brand new 12″ EP entitled Ódnvia Metal Blade Records.

The EP features the previously unreleased title track on side A and a bare-bones rendition of “Deyðir varðar” on Side B, both performed live on unique occasions. Check out the video for the title track at The video was shot March 17th, 2018 at the old Sjónleikarahúsið theater in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands.

Comments the band: “As a celebration of our 10 years of existence, we present the very first Hamferð-song, first performed in the autumn of 2008 and never before published. It is built from three very different sections which still represent our music today: one part foreboding, one part violent and one part elegiac. The parts follow the narrative of a sailor over three chapters; first braving an increasingly stormy ocean, then reflecting on a long life sailing the very seas that now threaten his life, and finally surrendering to the waves. The title translates to ‘violent storm’ or ‘hurricane’.

Hamferð about the B-side “Deyðir varðar”: “A man wanders the misty mountains in search for his lost son: A fitting story to tell during an eclipse over the Faroese mountainscape. ‘Deyðir varðar’, originally from our album ‘Evst‘, was the ideal song for this event, and this is the raw, unbridled performance, delivered above the village of Kvívík on a cold morning in March, 2015.
