Metal Blade Records is proud to welcome Fractal Universe to its worldwide roster! Founded in 2014, Fractal Universe is a progressive death metal band from Nancy, France. They released their first EP, Boundaries of Reality, in February 2015, and played numerous shows in support of it, opening for bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Exodus, Monuments, and many more. With the release of their first full-length, Engram of Decline, in April 2017 via Kolony Records, Fractal Universereceived even more exposure in international press (Terrorizer, Rock Tribune, Rock Hard, etc.), before touring throughout Europe and appearing at various festivals. Soon after, Metal Blade Records offered the band a worldwide deal.

Fractal Universe comments: “We’re thrilled to announce our collaboration with Metal Blade Records for the release of our upcoming album. The label has put out a countless amount of great albums over the years, that shaped our tastes in metal and contributed to making us the musicians we are today. Signing to them has been one of our main objectives since we started the band, and is really a dream come true. We couldn’t be more excited about the months to come, and we can’t wait to share the first tracks of the album with you!”

Fractal Universe‘s sophomore album – and Metal Blade Records debut – is entitled Rhizomes of Insanity. Set to be released in spring 2019, Rhizomes of Insanity was recorded between May and July 2018, with drums recorded at Ghost City Recordings with Nikita Kamprad, and mixing and mastering handled once again by the band’s long-time engineer Flavien Morel of Boundless Productions Studios. Epic Melodic Death Metallers Nothgard have just finished their live activities for 2018. Bandleader Dom R. Crey comments: “Wow, what a blast! Four weeks, countless shows all over Europe and an incredibly awesome time. At the end of October, we started with the guys of Parasite Inc. in the ‘Malady X’ release-tour, and would like to thank all those who came to the shows. The energy that our fans put up here was fantastic. We had never expected that lyrics of the new songs would be shouted at us during those shows – incredible! Just as great was the subsequent European tour with our Finnish brothers in mind, Omnium Gatherum & Wolfheart.Again, a big thank you to all our fans in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Hungary and Co – you know who you are!”

Nothgard filmed an abundance of material during their latest tour; the band has now launched a video for the Malady X track, “Guardians Of Sanity”, which can be viewed at: https://youtu.be/oeOGTz3dmvc

Cannibal Corpse will be touring in support of their latest album, Red Before Black. Many words come to mind when you hear the name Cannibal Corpse, but one truly defines the soon-to-be thirty-year death metal veterans: Unstoppable. Produced by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Goatwhore), Red Before Black serves to not only reiterate this but to once more raise the stakes, making it very clear who sets the standard when it comes to always compelling music that is equally brutal and complex. Moreover, the band have pushed themselves again, ensuring that it stands out from their catalog. “Throughout our career we’ve tried to improve the precision of both our musical execution and our album production, while still maintaining full-on aggression. ‘Red Before Black‘ continues in that direction, but might go even further on the aggressive side of things. It’s definitely precise, but it has a rawness to it that goes beyond anything we’ve done recently,” asserts bassist Alex Webster. “We really worked super hard crafting these songs, practicing them, and getting them where we wanted to be more so than on any of our previous albums,” adds drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz. “And as Alex said, musically I think it’s the most raw sound we’ve had – and at the same time I think it’s our most focused, tightest and catchiest record.”

Monte Pittman will be touring in support of his two new solo albums: Better Or Worse and Between The Space. Monte comments:
“The album ‘Between The Space‘ is a heavy album that gets straight to the point as soon as it starts. The theme is about connection, alignment, and what divides those things. As always when I write, my goal is coming up with the material that fits in my live show. I did everything on these albums. I wrote it all, I played every instrument, I recorded it, and I mixed it. The only thing I didn’t do was the artwork (by Aaron Lea) and mastering (by Alan Douches). It was a challenge having so many tasks. It was a luxury being able to take the time and get everything just how I wanted it. It was a learning experience, and it was a lot of fun making it. The album ‘Better Or Worse‘ is an acoustic album but it feels like a heavy album. The theme is about being attached to something or being unattached. It could be an idea or a thought process. The softest part of the album has the heaviest lyrics. It builds instrumentally as the album progresses. I wanted the tone of each track to be a little different from each other. ‘Better Or Worse‘ and ‘Between The Space‘ both mirror each other and they are polar opposites. The idea is to have something there for the people who like my heavy music, something for the people who like my acoustic music, and something for the people who like the variety of both.”
